ದೀಪವಿರದ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ-ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು ಲೇಖಕ ಸುಶಾಂತ ಕೊಟ್ಯಾನ್ ಅವರು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಡಾ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆ, ಕೃತಿಗೆ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿ ಬರೆದು ‘ಸಲಿಂಗರತಿಯಂಥ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಂಡ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯು ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಬೌದ್ಧಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯ ನಾಯಕನಾದ ಸುಕೇಶನೂ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ವೇಷಧಾರಿ. ಇಡೀ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಾಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟುವಾಗ, ಸುಕೇಶನೊಳಗಿನ ಹೆಣ್ತನದ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ತಂದುಕೊಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನನ್ನು ಲೈಂಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಶೋಷಿಸುವವರನ್ನು ಬಯಲುಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇವುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಐಉಃಖಿಕಿ ನ ಹಲವು ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಮುಖಗಳು ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕವಾಗಿಯೂ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ದೀಪವಿರದ ಕತ್ತಲ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನು ಸುಕೇಶ. ಅವನು ಇಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ಬಯಸಿದ ಬದುಕವನಿಗೆ ದೊರೆಯಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅಷ್ಟೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮೂಡಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲೇರಿದ್ದ ರವಿ ತನ್ನ ಹೊಂಗಿರಣದ ಹೊಂಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಭುವಿಯೆಡೆಗೆ ಚೆಲ್ಲಿದ್ದನು. ಟ್ಯಾಕ್ಸಿ ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಚಲಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಸುಕೇಶ ಅಂಧಕಾರದ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಕಿಗಾಗಿ ಅರಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅಂತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ಕತೆಯ ಆರಂಭ ಅವನ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೀಗ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಹೀಗೆ ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯು ಲೈಂಗಿಕತೆಯ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಮಜಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಶೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ರವೀಂದ್ರ, ಆಕಾಶ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಕೇಶರ ನಡುವಣ ತ್ರಿಕೋನ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಗಂಡಸರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗುವ ರಘುಪತಿಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳೂ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಗೇ ಸೆಕ್ಸ್ ವೀಡಿಯೋ ನೋಡುವ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಗುಜರಾತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಾಜವು ತನ್ನ ಮೂಗಿನ ನೇರಕ್ಕೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂಥ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ತಣ್ಣಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯ ವಸ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಪಾತ್ರಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ತೀರಾ ಹೊಸದು. ಕಾನೂನಿನ ತೊಡಕುಗಳು, ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಸ್ಥರ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ, ಮಡಿವಂತಿಕೆ, ನಿಷೇಧ, ಭಯ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವು ಮುಖ್ಯಧಾರೆಗೆ ಬರಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸುಶಾಂತ್ ಕೋಟ್ಯಾನ್ ತುಂಬ ಧೈರ್ಯವಹಿಸಿ ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯನ್ನು ಬರೆದು ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಿವಿನ ಗಡಿರೇಖೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

दीनदयालजी का व्यक्तित्व जितना सरल था, उनका जीवन उतना ही कठिन था। इसी प्रकार दीनदयालजी के विचारों को पढ़ना जितना सरल है, उन्हें समझना उतना ही कठिन है। जीवन का कोई ऐसा क्षेत्र नहीं है, जिसे उन्होंने अपने चिंतन के दायरे में शामिल न किया हो। सामाजिक विषयों से लेकर आर्थिक विषयों तक उन्होंने जितने आयामों के साथ उन्हें विश्लेषित किया है, वह अद्भुत है। यह उनके विचारों की शाश्वतता ही है कि उनके देहावसान के 48 वर्ष बीतने के बाद भी वे अप्रासंगिक नहीं हुए हैं। उनका ‘एकात्म मानववाद’ भारतीय संस्कृति का वह जयघोष है, जिसकी गूँज कभी समाप्त नहीं होगी। दीनदयालजी का अध्ययन क्षेत्र बहुत विस्तृत और विस्तीर्ण था। समाज-संस्कृति-राजनीति का शायद ही कोई विषय हो, जिस पर उनकी दृष्टि न गई हो। उनकी इसी दूरदृष्टि और चिंतन ने कोटि-कोटि कार्यकर्ताओं का पथ-प्रशस्त किया है। वर्तमान में केंद्र और कई प्रदेशों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी का शासन है। वे सब दीनदयालजी के चिंतन को व्यवहार रूप देकर राष्ट्र-निर्माण के काम में संलग्न हैं। विगत 13 वर्षों से डॉ. रमन सिंह के कुशल नेतृत्व और मार्गदर्शन में छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार प्राणपण से विकास-कार्यों में जुटी है। दीनदयालजी के कथनानुसार प्रदेश के आमजन तक शासन की सुविधाओं का लाभ पहुँचे, यह स्पष्ट दृष्टिगोचर होता है। इस पुस्तक में दीनदयालजी के स्वप्न को पूरा करने में छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार कितना प्रभावी काम कर रही है, यही दर्शाया गया है। पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के स्वप्नों को साकार करने की सफलता की कहानी है यह पुस्तक।

Jatara is a novella (1988) that deals with the predicament of women in the countryside. It graphically captures the realities of the village society in Telangana as major and minor characters come alive. The writer presents the theme of corruption in all its stark dimensions-physical and moral degradation, psychological and emotional blackmail, and surrender to superstitions and deceit from the point of view of the protagonist. The author remains objective, a bystander, in focusing on the bright and dark sides of the rural society, on interpersonal relations, and their belief systems, while subtly suggesting what was needed. For its humanist vision and gripping narrative, the novella remains a classic in Telugu fiction.

To my knowledge, it is difficult to find another contemporary literary work that so comprehensively captures the vanities of today's globalised world, the arrogant sound of technology, and the limitless possibilities of rebirth hidden in this death-like state. - H.S. ‘रामो का भतीजा’ को अधिकांश विद्वान दिदेरो की सर्वाधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण साहित्यिक रचना मानते हैं। यह दार्शनिक और नीतिशास्त्रीय होने के साथ ही एक सौन्दर्यशास्त्रीय कृति भी है जो अपने समय के तमाम नैतिक-वैधिक-सामाजिक-सौन्दर्यशास्त्रीय मूल्यों पर, प्रस्तरीकृत रूढ़ियों पर अनूठे कोण और मारक ढंग से सवाल उठाती है, जिरह करती है और बिना फ़ैसला सुनाए दो अवस्थितियों के दोनों पक्षों पर सोचने और सापेक्षत: सही-ग़लत की शिनाख़्त करने के लिए पाठक को तर्क एवं दृष्टि देकर खुला छोड़ देती है। इसीलिए इसे द्वन्द्ववाद की अनुपम कृति भी माना जाता। ‘रामो का भतीजा’ में स्वयं दिदेरो और रामो का भतीजा—दो ही मुख्य पात्र सामने हैं जिनके बीच एक लम्बे संवाद के रूप में रचना अन्त तक की यात्रा पूरी करती है। रामो का भतीजा भी तत्कालीन पेरिस का एक वास्तविक चरित्र है। प्रसिद्ध फ़्रांसीसी संगीत-रचनाकार रामो उसका चाचा है। (भतीजा) रामो एक ग़रीब संगीतकार है जो पेरिस के बोहेमियाई जीवन का एक प्रतिनिधि है—पूरी तरह से अनैतिक, बिना किसी उसूल का, मानवद्वेषी चरित्र, जो घूसखोर, धनलोलुप, प्रतिक्रियावादी पत्रकारों का मित्र है और एक ऐसा परजीवी जो धनी अभिजातों के घरों में घुसने की जुगत भिड़ाने में दक्ष है। रामो समाज के नैतिक मानदंडों को ख़ारिज करता है। वह उन्हें एक ऐसी ताक़त मानता है जो उसके लिए बेगानी है, उसके ख़िलाफ़ है और इसलिए बुरी है। अपनी कामनाओं-वासनाओं-आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति—जीवन में बस इसी एक चीज़ को वह मूल्य के तौर पर स्वीकार करता है। लेकिन रचना का कौशल यह है कि अपने अनैतिक व्यवहार और मानवद्वेषी अभिव्यक्तियों के ज़रिए रामो अपने आसपास की दुनिया को बेनकाब करता जाता है। वह समाज के पाखंडों के मुखौटों को नोच देता है और उसके सारतत्त्व को सामने ला देता है। वह दार्शनिक (जिसका प्रतिनिधित्व संवाद में दिदेरो करता है) के आदर्शों की निर्जीविता और अमूर्तता को भी उजागर करता है। वह स्पष्टत: देख रहा है कि धन समाज की मुख्य शक्ति बनता जा रहा है, लेकिन दूसरी ओर ग़रीबी भी मौजूद है। इस स्थिति में किसी भी तरह की स्वतंत्रता का बोध भ्रामक है। हर व्यक्ति भाँति-भाँति की मुद्राएँ-मुखौटे ओढ़े हुए है और कोई भी अपने प्रति सच्चा और ईमानदार नहीं है।

प्रख्यात बांग्ला कथाकार विमल मित्र का यह उपन्यास एक ऐसे आदर्शवादी युवक की कहानी है, जो अपने जीवन में कुछ महान कार्य कर दिखाने की आकांक्षा रखता है, लेकिन कई अप्रत्याशित घटनाएँ उसे कुछ और ही बना देती हैं, जिसकी ख़ुद उसने या किसी ने भी कल्पना नहीं की थी। घटनाचक्र में पड़कर वह कई मोड़ों से गुज़रता है, और अन्त में जब वह इच्छित पथ पा लेता है तो उसे बोध होता है कि जीवन की वास्तविकता क्या है। इस क्रम में उसे जीवन के अनेक रूप देखने को मिलते हैं तथा बहुत कुछ बलिदान भी करना पड़ता है। विकृतियों का चरम भोग भोगते हुए उसने कीचड़ में कमल की तरह खिलते सुकृतियों के स्वरूप भी देखे। पात्र और घटनाएँ उपन्यास में इस तरह गुँथे हुए हैं कि सहसा यह कह पाना मुश्किल होगा कि इस उपन्यास की कथा-वस्तु चरित्र द्वारा अनुशासित है अथवा घटनाओं द्वारा। एक की जीवन्तता और दूसरे की सहजता ने कथा को लयात्मक गति व विस्तार दिया है। ‘परस्त्री’ की एक विशेषता यह भी है कि इसकी कथा समकालीन सामाजिक जीवन की पृष्ठभूमि में आगे बढ़ती है। यह व्यक्ति के अन्तर्मन के रहस्यों को नहीं, बल्कि सामाजिक जीवन के यथार्थ को उजागर करती है। सिर से पाँव तक भ्रष्टाचार में डूबे व्यवस्था-तंत्र और उससे त्राण पाने के लिए छटपटाते सामान्‍यजन की वेदना का अत्यन्त सजीव चित्रण इस उपन्यास में हुआ है।
