In 1987, he joined the urdudaily Qaumi Awaz in Delhi, editing its Sunday edition and setting new standards for creative and intellectual journalism in Urdu. He worked at Jamia Millia Islamia from 1998, co-editing two research journals. Farhat Ehsas also contributed to All India Radio and BBC urduService.
