- Description: ‘क़यामत’ राही मासूम रज़ा का बेहद दिलचस्प उपन्यास है। राही मासूम रज़ा के कथा साहित्य का विश्लेषण करते समय प्रायः उनकी एक-आध कृति को छोड़कर बाक़ी की चर्चा न के बराबर की जाती है। एक कारण तो यह कि वे उपन्यास हिन्दी में उपलब्ध नहीं हैं अर्थात् वे मूल रूप से उर्दू में लिखे गए हैं। दूसरा यह कि कई बार विभिन्न वजहों से कुछ रचनाओं को ‘पॉपुलर’ के खाते में डाल दिया जाता है। गोया पॉपुलर होने और स्तरीय होने में कोई अनिवार्य अन्तर्विरोध हो! और तो और, कई बार पठनीयता को भी श्रेष्ठता के विपक्ष में खड़ा कर दिया जाता है। कहना चाहिए कि ‘क़यामत’ राही मासूम रज़ा का पठनीय और लोकप्रिय होने के साथ स्तरीय उपन्यास है। भाषा में वही शक्ति है जो राही की पहचान है। उदाहरण के लिए\ “जो हिन्दुस्तान से पाकिस्तान चले गए हैं या पाकिस्तान से हिन्दुस्तान आ गए हैं, घर की याद तो उन्हें भी आती होगी। और रात को घर के ख़्वाब आते होंगे। और वो ख़्वाब ही में उदास हो जाते होंगे। और शायद रो भी देते हों।...” डॉ. एम. फ़ीरोज़ ख़ान और डॉ. शगुफ़्ता नियाज़ ने हिन्दी में ‘क़यामत’ का प्रवाहपूर्ण अनुवाद किया है।
