- Description: भारतीय सांस्कृतिक नवजागरण के अग्रदूत गौतम बुद्ध, सम्राट् चंद्रगुप्त, आदिशंकराचार्य, समर्थ रामदास, महर्षि दयानंद सरस्वती, वेदांत केसरी स्वामी विवेकानंद, स्वामी रामतीर्थ आदि महात्माओं ने हिमालय की गोद में प्रेरणा प्राप्त की। इसी की शरण और सान्निध्य में निष्काम कर्म यानी ‘अनासक्ति’ का महापाठ सीखा। राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी भी हिमालय से अभिभूत रहे। उनकी कृति गीता का अनुवाद ‘अनासक्ति योग’ संयोग से इसी हिमालय की प्रेरणा से पूरी हो पाई। यहीं उन्होंने इसकी सारगर्भित प्रस्तावना लिखी। इस पुस्तक में उनके व्यवहृत जीवन का दर्शन भी समाहित है। गीता को बापू ने किस तरह अपने आचरण में ढाल लिया, इसका भी जीवंत दस्तावेज है यह ‘अनासक्ति योग’ पुस्तक। भारतव्यापी दौरे पर निकले बापू स्वास्थ्य लाभ और सीमांत पर्वतीय जनता में नई उमंग भरने यहाँ आए थे। ये वर्ष १९२९ की गरमियों के दिन थे। नैनीताल, अल्मोड़ा, रानीखेत होते हुए वह कौसानी पहुँचे। यहाँ की नयनाभिराम छटा और सामने दुग्ध धवल हिमालय के अप्रतिम-आध्यात्मिक सौंदर्य ने बापू के पाँवों में जैसी बेडिय़ाँ डाल दीं। दो दिन के प्रवास पर यहाँ आए गांधीजी पूरे १४ दिन यहीं रुके रह गए। कौसानी चाय बागान का यह अतिथि-गृह, जहाँ बापू ठहरे और ‘अनासक्ति योग’ पुस्तक लिखी, वही आज ‘अनासक्ति आश्रम’ के नाम से जाना जाता है। भारतवर्ष के मस्तक हिमालय का जयघोष करती गौरवबोध करवाने वाली पठनीय कृति।

- Description: विचार आता है, सभी फूल अशोक जैसे क्यों नहीं बनाए सृष्टा ने? कौन सी विवशता के कारण कुटज की, कुटज जैसे उजाड़ में ही जन्मकर जीवन बिता देनेवालों की सृष्टि करनी पड़ी। इसलिए कि कुटज नहीं बनाए जाते तो अशोक की पहचान कैसे बनती? सर्जक की विवशता थी कि वह अशोक के आभिजात्य को दरशाने के लिए कुटज के बियाबान को रचता। बियाबानों की नियति ही है कि वे हरे-भरे उद्यानों को पहचान देने के लिए निर्मित कर दिए जाते हैं। कुटज और उसके जैसे फूल इसी विवशता की देन हैं और यह विवशता भी इसलिए है कि अशोक की सामथ्र्य के बूते पर ही सर्जक की सत्ता टिकी रहती है, इसलिए सृष्टा की विवशता का किरीट है कुटज। ठीक अशोक और कुटज की तरह मनुष्य भी गढऩे पड़े। सर्जक ने आरंभ में बनाए तो सभी मनुष्य एक जैसे, लेकिन समय के आगे बढऩे के साथ यह समानता स्वयं सृष्टा को भारी पड़ी। मनुष्य ने ही उसे विवश किया कि वह इस समानता में बदलाव लाए और परिणाम यह हुआ कि फिर मनुष्य भी अशोक और कुटज होने लगे। —इसी संग्रह से प्रसिद्ध ललित-निबंधकार श्री नर्मदा प्रसाद उपाध्याय के भाषाई लालित्य और भारतीय दृष्टि से समादृत निबंध, जो पाठकों के अंतस को छू जाएँगे और रससिक्त करेंगे। आवरण—अजंता की दूसरी गुफा की सीलिंग पर निर्मित भित्तिचित्र : पाँचवीं सदी।

- Description: भगवतीचरण वर्मा ने अपने प्रथम उपन्यास ‘पतन’ की रचना अपने कॉलेज के दिनों में की थी जो गंगा पुस्तक माला के अन्तर्गत प्रकाशित हुआ था। इस उपन्यास को वे अपनी अपरिपक्व रचना मानते थे और उन्होंने इसे अपनी रचनाओं में गम्भीरता से नहीं लिया। सन् 1932 में भगवती बाबू ने पाप और पुण्य की समस्या पर अपना प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास ‘चित्रलेखा’ लिखा जो हिन्दी साहित्य में एक क्लासिक के रूप में आज भी प्रख्यात है। ‘तीन वर्ष’ उनका प्रथम सामाजिक उपन्यास है जो एक प्रेमकथा है। सन् 1948 में उनका प्रथम वृहत उपन्यास ‘टेढे़-मेढ़े रास्ते’ आया जिसे हिन्दी साहित्य के प्रथम राजनीतिक उपन्यास का दर्जा मिला। इसी शृंखला में उन्होंने आगे चलकर वृहत राजनीतिक उपन्यासों की एक शृंखला लिखी जिनमें ‘भूले-बिसरे चित्र’, ‘सीधी-सच्ची बातें’, ‘प्रश्न और मरीचिका’, ‘सबहिं नचावत राम गोसाईं’ और ‘सामर्थ्य और सीमा’ प्रमुख हैं। भगवतीचरण वर्मा के सभी उपन्यासों में एक विविधता पाई जाती है। उन्होंने हास्य-व्यंग्य, सामाजिक, मनोवैज्ञानिक और दार्शनिक सभी विषयों पर उपन्यास लिखे। कवि और कथाकार होने के कारण वर्मा जी के उपन्यासों में भावनात्मकता और बौद्धिकता का सामंजस्य मिलता है। ‘चित्रलेखा’ में भगवती बाबू का छायावादी कवि-रूप स्पष्ट दिखता है जबकि ‘टेढ़े-मेढ़े रास्ते’ को उन्होंने अपनी प्रथम शुद्ध बौद्धिक गद्य-रचना माना है। रचनावली के इस खंड में प्रस्तुत, साहित्य अकादमी द्वारा पुरस्कृत उपन्यास ‘भूले-बिसरे चित्र’ अतीत के चित्रों का एक विशेष एलबम है जिसके चित्र कभी धुँधले नहीं पड़ सकते। जीवन के सभी पहलुओं से रू-ब-रू कराता यह कालजयी उपन्यास है।
