- Description: स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के बाद प्रशासन में राजभाषा के रूप में हिंदी के प्रयोग और प्रगामी प्रयोग पर जोर दिया गया। अनुवाद शीघ्र ही एक व्यापक विषय बन गया। विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी, विधि, वाणिज्य तथा सर्वसुलभ रूप में साहित्य के क्षेत्र में भी अनुवाद का स्थान अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण एवं अनिवार्य लगने लगा। प्रस्तुत ग्रंथ के कुछ अध्यायों में व्यावहारिक अनुवाद के क्षेत्र में उतरनेवालों के लिए आवश्यक मार्ग निर्देश दिए गए हैं। अनुवाद के मूल्यांकन के मानक अभी नहीं बने हैं। साहित्य में सृजनात्मक वाड्मय की रचना के बाद लक्षण ग्रंथ एवं व्याकरण ग्रंथ की जरूरत पड्ती है। अनुवाद के संदर्भ में एक लघु प्रयास ‘अनुवाद की स्तरीयता’ नामक अध्याय में किया गया है। हिंदी क्षेत्र में सिद्धांत एवं विशेषज्ञ ‘तत्काल भाषांतरण’ अथवा ‘इंटरप्रेटेशन’ पर अभी अधिक ध्यान नहीं दे सकते हैं; जबकि यह आज बहुत जरूरी एवं उर्वर क्षेत्र है। इस विशेष अनुवाद विधा की कुछ बारीकियों के विश्लेषण का प्रयास भी इस ग्रंथ में किया गया है। अंग्रेजी-हिंदी अनुवाद आज निरंतर किया जाता है; परंतु उसके व्यावहारिक बिंदु (चेक प्वाइंट) पर सोदाहरण प्रकाश कम ही डाला गया है। इस पुस्तक में दो बड़े अध्यायों में इसीके विभिन्न पहलुओं पर विशद विवेचन प्रस्तुत किया है। विश्वास है, यह पुस्तक अनुवाद कला में कुशलता प्राप्ति में सहायक होने के साथ-साथ आम पाठकों के लिए भी ज्ञानवर्द्धक सिद्ध होगी।
