- Description: दिन बीतते रहे। मुन्ना पढ़ने में तेज था। मास्टर जी उसकी खूब बड़ाई करते। स्कूल में पाँच किलास तक पढ़ाई थी तो मुन्ना का पढ़ाई अच्छे से होते रहा। खेती से धान, मकई, मूँग अच्छा हो रहा था। हम अनाज बदलकर जरूरी सामान खरीद लेते और घर खर्च से अधिक रखकर बाकी बेच देते। हजार सोने की मोहर में से एक-चौथाई खर्च हो गया था। चाँदी के सिक्के भी दो-ढाई हजार नग थे। उसमें भी लगभग हजार नग खर्च हो गए थे। इसलिए बक्सा में ताला लगाकर उसे हमने अपने पलंग के नीचे रख दिया था और उस पर टूटे-फूटे बरतन रख दिये। अनाज बेचकर जो पैसा मिलता उससे हम कुछ बचा लेते। मुंशी काका ने आसपास और भी जमीन सस्ते दाम पर खरीद ली थी। अब तक जोत 30 बीघा हो गई थी। बस एक कुआँ बनवाना था हमें, जिससे पानी के लिए गाँव में एक कुएँ पर ही न रहना पड़े। घर भी कुआँ के बिना पूरा नहीं था। मुन्ना की पाँच किलास की पढ़ाई और कुआँ का बनना एक साथ ही सम्पन्न हुआ। अब तक चार दुधारू गाय, दो जोड़ी बैल और एक बैलगाड़ी भी घर में आ गई थी। मुन्ना भी खेती के काम में हाथ बँटाता। पर वह हर दिन मुझसे आगे पढ़ने के लिए शहर जाने की जिद करता। उसके एक-दो संगी-साथी शहर चले गए थे और अपने जान-पहचान में रहकर बड़ी किलास में पढ़ने लगे थे। पर हमारे पास तो कोई उपाय नहीं था।

The innocent love between Jayanti and Rafi, who strive to get out of the stifling firestorm engulfing Kesaruru, stands out as the only redeeming hope for Kesaruru.
