स्वामीजी ने युवाओं का आह्वान करते हुए कहा था कि निराशा, कमजोरी, भय, आलस्य तथा ईर्ष्या युवाओं के सबसे बड़े शत्रु हैं। उन्होंने युवाओं को जीवन में लक्ष्य निर्धारण करने के लिए स्पष्ट संदेश दिया और कहा कि तुम सदैव सत्य का पालन करो, विजय तुम्हारी होगी। आनेवाली शताब्दियाँ तुम्हारी बाट जोह रही हैं। उन्होंने कहा था कि हमें कुछ ऐसे युवा चाहिए, जो देश की खातिर अपना सर्वस्व न्योछावर करने को तैयार हों। ऐसे युवाओं के माध्यम से वे देश ही नहीं, विश्व को भी संस्कारित करना चाह रहे थे।
स्वामीजी प्रखर राष्ट्रवाद के प्रबल समर्थक थे। उनका मानना था कि राष्ट्र के प्रति गौरवबोध से ही राष्ट्र का कल्याण होगा। हिंदू संस्कृति, समाजसेवा, चरित्र-निर्माण, देशभक्ति, शिक्षा, व्यक्तित्व तथा नेतृत्व इत्यादि के विषय में स्वामीजी के विचार आज अधिक प्रासंगिक हैं।
