- Description: ज़िन्दगी में आस-पास उगे कैक्टस जैसे प्रश्न...। रचनाओं के किरदारों से उन प्रश्नों पर सोते-जागते होनेवाला संवाद...। मेरे भीतर की स्त्री ने सम्भावना की चिट्ठी रची। मैंने महसूस किया कि यह सिर्फ़ मेरे अन्दर की स्त्री नहीं थी। क्या यह तमाम दुनिया के अन्दर की सम्भावना थी? पर लोग तो कहते हैं, नस्ल, जाति, देश, काल के धरातल पर औरत के प्रश्न इतने अलग-अलग हैं कि कभी-कभी मुठभेड़ की मुद्रा में दिखाई देते हैं। जैसे कोई माँ बनकर ख़ुश होता है तो कोई मातृत्व से मुक्ति में राह ढूँढ़ रहा है, कोई परिवार के बाहर खड़ा अन्दर आने का दरवाज़ा खटखटा रहा है तो कोई कुंडी खोल बाहर जाने को छटपटा रहा है। ख़ैर! सम्भावना ने चिट्ठी रची, चिट्ठी की आत्मीयता और संवेदना ने लुब्रीकेशन का काम किया, पत्र लेखों ने अपना आकार लेना शुरू कर दिया। सही पते की तलाश तब भी पूरी कहाँ हुई। मेरा ख़ुद से सवाल था कि यह मैं किसके लिए लिख रही हूँ? सही पते कौन से हैं? आम औरत के जीवन के सवाल और किताबों के उनके पाठकों तक पहुँचाने में, मैं क्या कोई पुल का काम कर सकती हूँ? मेरे लिए मेरे किरदार महत्त्वपूर्ण थे, जो आम ज़िन्दगी के प्रश्नों के वाहक बने। लोगों ने मेरी चिट्ठी में पात्र खोजे, प्रश्नों से साक्षात्कार किया, फिर कहा कि किताब तक कहाँ और कैसे जाएँ, आप कहानी सुना दें। मेरी किताबें गले लगकर रोईं, मुझे लताड़ा भी...लोगों के पास हम तक आने का वक़्त नहीं बचा, ‘जिस्ट’ चाहिए...। हमारा भविष्य तो लाइब्रेरियों में दब के दम घुटकर मरने या फिर ‘राइट ऑफ़’ होकर जल-मरने में है। तुम हमारी कहानी सुना दो उन्हें, वे चलकर नहीं आएँगे हम तक...। कितनी रातें हम साथ-साथ सुबके हैं। हाँ, तो सवाल था कि सही पते कौन से हैं, मेरे लेखक मित्रों ने चिकोटी काटी...किसी ‘नामवर’ तक पहुँची तुम्हारी चिट्ठी? अनाम मोहिनी देवियों की कहानी के इस्तरी-बिस्तरी विमर्श से बुद्धिजीवियों को क्या लेना-देना! आप समाज से सीधे बात करना चाहती हैं, आँकड़ों-वाँकड़ों का खेल समाजशास्त्री खेलते हैं। मैंने चुपचाप रहना ठीक समझा...समाजशास्त्रियों के अपने तर्क थे—वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से बात कीजिए। ये साहित्यिक भाषा, संवेदना, आत्मीयता...। अरे, तटस्थ होकर सोचिए...! चिट्ठियों को सही पते की तलाश है...यूँ जानती हूँ, ऊपर लिखे सारे पते सही हैं।
