- Description: विद्यापति 'राज काज समाज' इस दृष्टि से अनोखी पुस्तक है कि इसमें विद्यापति की भक्ति-शृंगार वाली रूढ़ छवि के समानांतर सामाजिक-सांस्कृतिक सरोकार संपन्न कवि के रूप में उनकी पहचान की गई है। विद्यापति की पदावली का अध्ययन उनकी अन्य महत्त्वपूर्ण वैचारिक रचनाओं के साथ मिलाकर की गई है जिसके परिणाम स्वरूप पदावली की नई अर्थ छटाओं से हमारा साक्षात्कार होता है। कीर्तिलता, पुरुष-परीक्षा और लखनावाली जैसी गंभीर विचार-प्रधान रचनाओं के कारण विद्यापति तमाम मध्यकालीन भक्त कवियों से अलहदा नजर आते हैं क्योंकि मध्यकाल के सभी भक्त केवल कवि हैं लेकिन विद्यापति कवि के साथ इतिहासकार, राजनीतिवेत्ता, संस्कृति-चिंतक तथा शिक्षाविद भी नजर आते हैं। ज्ञान के इस विस्तार ने उनकी कविता को अधिक गहरी और व्यापक जमीन प्रदान की है। हिंदी भक्ति आंदोलन के अग्रदूत विद्यापति की भक्ति कविता में वैष्णव (अलवार) और शैवभक्ति (नयनार) का समन्वित रूप देखने को मिलती है। विद्यापति ने मानव जीवन की श्रेष्ठता को प्रतिष्ठित करते हुए कहा है कि 'मानुस जीवन अनूप'। उनकी कविता में न तो कहीं स्त्री-निंदा है न ही वर्ण-विरोध। इस दृष्टि से विद्यापति समतापरक समाज की कल्पना करने वाले विलक्षण मध्यकालीन कवि के रूप में हमारे सामने उपस्थित होते हैं। विद्यापति की पदावली में शृंगार-भक्ति के अतिरिक्त स्त्री-प्रेम और प्रेम के क्षेत्र में स्त्री-साहस अद्ïभुत रूप से प्रकट हुआ है। सामंती समाज में प्रेम की पाबंदी के सख्त खिलाफ हैं—विद्यापति; वे कहते हैं 'परबस जनु हो हमार पियार'। यह पुस्तक पाठकों को एक 'नए विद्यापति' से परिचय कराने में सक्षम साबित होगी।
