- Description: यशपाल की मान्यता थी कि भारतीय जनता की असली आज़ादी अंग्रेज़ी राज से मुक्ति तक सीमित नहीं है, असली आज़ादी सामन्ती मूल्यों, तत्त्वों और प्रवृत्तियों की समाप्ति तथा उभरते हुए पूँजीवाद के ख़ात्मे पर ही सम्भव है और इसके लिए उन्हें एक ऐसी विचारधारा की ज़रूरत महसूस होती थी जो इतिहास की संरचना को वैज्ञानिक ढंग से समझाने के साथ-साथ जनसाधारण को समग्र रूपान्तरण के लिए प्रेरित भी कर सके। मार्क्सवाद उनकी दृष्टि में ऐसी ही सम्पूर्ण विचारधारा थी और यह पुस्तक मार्क्सवाद की भारत के धुर आम आदमी को समझ में आने लायक़ उनकी व्याख्या है। इसमें समाजवादी विचारों की आवश्यकता और विकास-क्रम को सहज और सुबोध भाषा में इस प्रकार प्रस्तुत किया गया है कि साधारण शिक्षित जन भी उन विचारों को समझकर आत्मसात् कर सकें। यह पुस्तक उन लोगों के लिए उपयोगी है जो मार्क्सवाद को समझे बिना ही समाजवादी सपनों में खोए रहते हैं और उन लोगों के लिए एक चुनौती जो इसी तरह बिना उसे समझे, मार्क्सवाद का विरोध करते रहते हैं। मार्क्सवाद सम्बन्धी यशपाल के चिन्तन का निःसन्देह एक ऐतिहासिक सन्दर्भ भी है, लेकिन यह पुस्तक आज भी उतनी ही सार्थक और प्रासंगिक है जितनी अपने प्रकाशन के समय थी। मार्क्सवाद सम्बन्धी उनकी जानकारी और भारतीय समाज के जटिल यथार्थ की उनकी विश्वसनीय समझदारी के लिहाज़ से यह पुस्तक अप्रतिम है।
