- Description: उनके जीवन के लगभग अड़सठ वर्ष (1929–1997) रचनाकर्म को समर्पित। कविता, उपन्यास, संस्मरण, यात्रावृत्त, निबन्ध, बाल–साहित्य आदि सभी विधाओं में उन्होंने लिखा। हिन्दी के अलावा मैथिली, बांग्ला और संस्कृत में भी उन्होंने न सिर्फ़ मौलिक रचनाएँ कीं, इन भाषाओं से अनुवाद भी किए। कुछ पत्र–पत्रिकाओं में उन्होंने स्तम्भ-लेखन भी किया। रचनावली के प्रथम खंड में बाबा की उन सभी कविताओं को संकलित किया गया है, जिनका रचनाकाल 1967 ई. तक है। ‘युगधारा’, ‘सतरंगे पंखोंवाली’, ‘प्यासी पथराई आँखें’, ‘तुमने कहा था’, ‘हज़ार–हज़ार बाँहोंवाली’, ‘पुरानी जूतियों का कोरस’, ‘रत्नगर्भ’, ‘इस गुब्बारे की छाया में’ तथा ‘भूल जाओ पुराने सपने’—इन संग्रहों से 1967 तक की सभी कविताओं को कालक्रम से यहाँ ले लिया गया है। इसके अलावा नागार्जुन के सर्वाधिक प्रिय कवि कालिदास की रचना ‘मेघदूत’ का उनके द्वारा मुक्तछन्द में किया गया अनुवाद भी इसमें संकलित है। यह अनुवाद 1953 में ‘साप्ताहिक हिन्दुस्तान’ के एक ही अंक में प्रकाशित हुआ। इसके बाद 1955 में पुस्तकाकार प्रकाशन के समय इसमें एक लम्बी भूमिका और कुछ पादटिप्पणियाँ भी जोड़ी गर्इं। रचनावली में वह इसी रूप में उपलब्ध है।

साहित्य में मंज़रनामा एक मुकम्मिल फ़ॉर्म है। यह एक ऐसी विधा है जिसे पाठक बिना किसी रुकावट के रचना का मूल आस्वाद लेते हुए पढ़ सकें। लेकिन मंज़रनामा का अन्दाज़े-बयान अमूमन मूल रचना से अलग हो जाता है या यूँ कहें कि वह मूल रचना का इन्टरप्रेटेशन हो जाता है।
मंज़रनामा पेश करने का एक उद्देश्य तो यह है कि पाठक इस फ़ॉर्म से रू-ब-रू हो सकें और दूसरा यह कि टी.वी. और सिनेमा में दिलचस्पी रखनेवाले लोग यह देख-जान सकें कि किसी कृति को किस तरह मंज़रनामे की शक्ल दी जाती है। टी.वी. की आमद से मंज़रनामों की ज़रूरत में बहुत इज़ाफ़ा हो गया है।
‘माचिस’ का मंज़रनामा पंजाब के उन हालात का चित्रण करता है जब वहाँ आतंकवाद का साया किसी अभिशाप की तरह मँडरा रहा था। ऐसे में सच और झूठ के बीच फ़र्क़ करना बहुत मुश्किल था। युवा पीढ़ी दिग्भ्रमित थी और व्यवस्था उसे समझने में चूक कर रही थी। पंजाब की हरियाली उदास थी और वहाँ की उमंगें घायल। विडम्बनाओं के भँवर में उलझी ज़िन्दगियों की मर्मस्पर्शी दास्तान प्रस्तुत करता यह मंज़रनामा बहुत ख़ास है।

अंकित चड्ढा दास्तानगोई के आसमान का सबसे दरख़्शाँ सितारा था जिसको वक़्त ने बड़ी बेरहमी से हम सब से जुदा कर दिया। अंकित ने छह साल मेरे साथ काम किया मगर उन 6 सालों में उसने 20 सालों का सफ़र तय किया। उसमें बला की ख़ुद-एत्तेमादी, बला की कशिश, बला की संजीदगी और बला की शोख़ी थी। दास्तानगोई शुरू करने के साल भर के अन्दर उसने जान लिया था कि उसे यही काम करना है और उसने नौकरी-वौकरी को ताक पर रखकर कबीर पे अपनी ख़ुद साख़्ता ‘ढाई आखर की दास्तान’ बना कर अपनी आमद का डंका बजा दिया था। फिर वो एक के बाद एक नए तजुर्बे, नए साँचे, नए रंग, नए क़हक़हे बिखेरता चला गया। दास्तान-ए-एलिस में उसने बच्चों को जिस तरह रिझाया वो कोई बहुत ग़ैरमामूली तौर पर सच्चा और बिरला इंसान ही कर सकता था। ये उसका जौहर था की जिसने एक बार उसको देखा वो उसका गिरवीदा हो गया। वो सिर्फ़ दास्तानें नहीं सुनाता था लोगों के दिलों में जाकर बैठ जाता था और वो आज भी उन हज़ारों लोगों के दिलों में बैठा हुआ है जिन्हें उससे दास्तान सुनने का शर्फ़ हासिल हुआ। इस किताब में उसकी लिखी और तदवीन की हुई ढेरों दास्तानें हैं। कहीं शगुफ़्तगी है, कहीं तंज़ है, कहीं हंसी की फुहार है, कहीं दिल-गिरफ़्तगी है, मगर उसके यहाँ हुज़्न में भी हुस्न है, तल्ख़ी में भी प्यार है। कहीं कबीर है, कहीं खुसरो हैं, कहीं गांधी है, कहीं चींटियाँ हैं, कहीं खानाबदोश हैं। ये किताब अंकित की यादगार है। उसका नेमुल-बदल है। दिलफ़रेब, हसीन, ख़ूबसूरत, चुलबुला अंकित आज नहीं है मगर उसकी छोड़ी ये कहानियाँ हमें हमेशा उसकी याद दिलाते रहेंगी अंकित ज़िंदाबाद, पाइँदाबाद।
