They are heading some of the top multinational companies and hold high positions in many international organisations, in a way making an important contribution to the evolving global agenda. Today, Indian diaspora is investing in creating jobs and cutting edge technologies world over. India has also done very well in reaching out to its diaspora through various channels, including the youth. At over USD 75 billion annually, India is the top recipient of remittances. Diaspora could also be an important source of technology and know-how. Given their goodwill on both sides, they are a great source of confidence-building between India and countries of their adoption and have demonstrated their clout on many occasions. Over the last many centuries, Indians have travelled to many near and far off destinations in the world for trade, business, education and jobs. One major wave of such movement was carried out by the colonial administration under the so called indentured system for meeting labour shortages in their overseas plantations. This inhuman system of exploitation of workers finally ended and the centenary of its abolition was commemorated in many parts of the world including India during 2017-18. Antar Rashtrya Sahyog Parishad (ARSP) had organised year-long activities to mark this important landmark in the life of the Indian diaspora, culminating with an international conference on the topic, ‘Contribution of Diaspora in Nation Building’ in Mauritius in July 2018. Several leaders and scholars addressed this gathering, and this publication captures the essence of its outcomes. This publication could be a good reference for students and scholars working on diaspora.

- Description: एक मानवीय इकाई के रूप में स्त्री और पुरुष, दोनों अपने समय व यथार्थ के साझे भोक्ता हैं लेकिन परिस्थितियाँ समान होने पर भी स्त्री-दृष्टि दमन के जिन अनुभवों व मन:स्थितियों से बन रही है, मुक्ति की आकांक्षा जिस तरह करवटें बदल रही है, उसमें यह स्वाभाविक है कि साहित्यिक संरचना तथा आलोचना, दोनों की प्रणालियाँ बदलें। स्त्री-लेखन स्त्री की चिन्तनशील मनीषा के विकास का ही ग्राफ़ है जिससे सामाजिक इतिहास का मानचित्र गढ़ा जाता है और जेंडर तथा साहित्य पर हमारा दिशा-बोध निर्धारित होता है। भारतीय समाज में जाति एवं वर्ग की संरचना जेंडर की अवधारणा और स्त्री-अस्मिता को कई स्तरों पर प्रभावित करती है। स्त्री-कविता पर केन्द्रित प्रस्तुत अध्ययन जो कि तीन खंडों में संयोजित है, स्त्री-रचनाशीलता को समझने का उपक्रम है, उसका निष्कर्ष नहीं। पहले खंड, 'स्त्री-कविता : पक्ष और परिप्रेक्ष्य' में स्त्री-कविता की प्रस्तावना के साथ-साथ गगन गिल, कात्यायनी, अनामिका, सविता सिंह, नीलेश रघुवंशी, निर्मला पुतुल और सुशीला टाकभौरे पर विस्तृत लेख हैं। एक अर्थ में ये सभी वर्तमान साहित्यिक परिदृश्य में विविध स्त्री-स्वरों का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रही हैं। उनकी कविता में स्त्री-पक्ष के साथ-साथ अन्य सभी पक्षों को आलोचना के केन्द्र में रखा गया है, जिससे स्त्री-कविता का बहुआयामी रूप उभरता है। दूसरा खंड, 'स्त्री-कविता : पहचान और द्वन्द्व' स्त्री-कविता की अवधारणा को लेकर स्त्री-पुरुष रचनाकारों से बातचीत पर आधारित है। इन रचनाकारों की बातों से उनकी कविताओं का मिलान करने पर उनके रचना-जगत को समझने में तो सहायता मिलती ही है, स्त्री-कविता सम्बन्धी उनकी सोच भी स्पष्ट होती है। स्त्री-कविता को लेकर स्त्री-दृष्टि और पुरुष-दृष्टि में जो साम्य और अन्तर है, उसे भी इन साक्षात्कारों में पढ़ा जा सकता है। तीसरा खंड, 'स्त्री-कविता : संचयन' के रूप में प्रस्तावित है...। इन सारे प्रयत्नों की सार्थकता इसी बात में है कि स्त्री-कविता के माध्यम से साहित्य और जेंडर के सम्बन्ध को समझते हुए मूल्यांकन की उदार कसौटियों का निर्माण हो सके जिसमें सबका स्वर शामिल हो।

पृथ्वी जैसी हमें दिखती है वैसी अतीत में नहीं थी और न ही भविष्य में रहेगी। धरती पर तरल जल का होना ही इसे ब्रह्मांड में विशिष्ट बना देता है। सौरमंडल में किसी भी ग्रह अथवा उनके उपग्रहों के धरातल पर तरल जल उपलब्ध नहीं है। तरल जल का सीधा सम्बन्ध जीवन से है। पृथ्वी की वे परिस्थितियाँ जिन्होंने महासागरों तथा वायुमंडल का निर्माण होने दिया और उन्हें क़ायम रखा, अन्य ग्रहों पर नहीं है। परन्तु ब्रह्मांड बहुत विशाल है, और असंख्य ग्रह दूसरे सितारों के चारों ओर उसी तरह परिक्रमारत हैं जैसे हमारे सौरमंडल के ग्रह। अतएव उनमें से कुछ ग्रहों पर तरल जल के महासागरों एवं पृथ्वी जैसी परिस्थितियों के होने की सम्भावनाओं से इनकार नहीं किया जा सकता। और यदि ऐसा है तो वहाँ जीवन भी होगा ।
कैसा होगा धरती का भविष्य? टेक्टानिक गतिविधियों से अनुप्रेरित महाद्विपीय संरचना अगले 25 से 35 करोड़ वर्षों में एक बृहत् अखंडित महाद्वीप का रूप ले सकती है, जैसा कि अतीत में एक से अधिक बार हो चुका है। अगले चार अरब वर्षों में सूर्य की चमक क्रमबद्ध ढंग से बढेगी जिसका अर्थ है कि पृथ्वी को अधिक ऊर्जा मिलेगी जिसके कारण सिलिकेट खनिजों का कालाधारित क्षरण अधिक होगा जिससे धरती का कार्बन-सिलिकेट-चक्र प्रतिकूलत: प्रभावित होने लगेगा जिसके फलस्वरूप वायुमंडल में कार्बन-डाईऑक्साइड गैस का स्तर गिरेगा। धीरे-धीरे वनस्पतियों का लोप होता जाएगा और वानस्पतिक खाद्य-शृंखला टूट जाएगी जिससे उन पर आधारित समस्त प्राणि जगत् के अस्तित्व पर ही संकट आ जाएगा।
