हमारे दौर के असाधारण फ़िल्मकार और शायर गुलज़ार की फ़िल्म ‘मीरा’ की यह स्क्रिप्ट मीरा की जीवन-कथा का बयान-भर नहीं है। यह मीरा को देखने के लिए एक अलग नज़रिए का आविष्कार भी करती है।
जैसा कि स्वाभाविक ही था, माध्यम की ज़रूरतों के चलते, इस पाठ में मीरा हमें कहीं ज़्यादा मानवीय और अपने आसपास की देहधारी इकाई के रूप में दिखाई देती हैं; लगभग दैवी व्यक्तित्व नहीं जैसा कि इतिहास के नायकों के साथ अकसर होता है, और मीरा के साथ भी हुआ।
लेकिन मीरा के मानवीकरण में माध्यम की आवश्यकताओं के अलावा काफ़ी भूमिका ख़ुद गुलज़ार साहब की और एक रचनाकार के रूप में उनके रुझान की भी है। अपने गीतों में वे हवा, धूप और आहटों तक का मानवीकरण करते रहे हैं; फिर मीरा तो जीते-जागते इंसानों से भी कुछ ज़्यादा जीवित मानवी थीं।
मीरा और उनके युग का पुनराविष्कार करनेवाली फ़िल्म की स्क्रिप्ट के अलावा इस पुस्तक में गुलज़ार से उनके रचनाकर्म के बारे में यशवंत व्यास की एक लम्बी बातचीत भी है और साथ है ‘मीरा’ के निर्माण में आनेवाली मुश्किलों के बारे में गुलज़ार का एक संस्मरण, जो इस पुस्तक को और उपयोगी तथा संग्रहणीय बनाता है। सिनेमा के विद्यार्थियों और पटकथा लेखकों को भी यह पुस्तक बहुत कुछ सिखाती है।

He abhors shiv and Is openly against the matrimonial alliance between his daughter sati and shiv. From the very beginning sati knows that shiv is her eternal spouse. But Prajapathi Daksh is bent upon destroying this relationship. However by quirk of fate sati is married to shiv. Not withstanding all resistance, Daksh is compelled to give his daughter away to the person he dislikes most, Shiv. Deeply hurt Daksh is now looking for a chance to insult his son in law when he arranges a yagya and doesn't invite them. Sati burns her out there in yog Agni. | have presented this so repeated story from a different angle. The first person narration here has been used for the expansion of philosophy and thought that result in giving a contemporary canvas. | have visualised myself as Sati for exploring the in-depth feelings and emotions of a woman. The use of the montage technique has allowed me to pick up some stories from countless stories of shiv and sati and put them into an imaginative, an unputdownable literary piece.
