Given their skills and other social qualities, they are also among the most sought after lots in most countries. Indian diaspora has performed well on all important parameters — political, economical, technological and cultural. PIOs are amongst the top skilled, employable and prosperous non-native people in most countries. They are heading some of the top multinational companies and hold high positions in many international organisations, in a way making an important contribution to the evolving global agenda. Today, Indian diaspora is investing in creating jobs and cutting edge technologies world over. India has also done very well in reaching out to its diaspora through various channels, including the youth. At over USD 75 billion annually, India is the top recipient of remittances. Diaspora could also be an important source of technology and know-how. Given their goodwill on both sides, they are a great source of confidence-building between India and countries of their adoption and have demonstrated their clout on many occasions. Over the last many centuries, Indians have travelled to many near and far off destinations in the world for trade, business, education and jobs. One major wave of such movement was carried out by the colonial administration under the so called indentured system for meeting labour shortages in their overseas plantations. This inhuman system of exploitation of workers finally ended and the centenary of its abolition was commemorated in many parts of the world including India during 2017-18. Antar Rashtrya Sahyog Parishad (ARSP) had organised year-long activities to mark this important landmark in the life of the Indian diaspora, culminating with an international conference on the topic, ‘Contribution of Diaspora in Nation Building’ in Mauritius in July 2018. Several leaders and scholars addressed this gathering, and this publication captures the essence of its outcomes. This publication could be a good reference for students and scholars working on diaspora.

(सर) जगदीश च्रंद बसु भारत के प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक थे जिन्हें भौतिकी, जीवविज्ञान, वनस्पतिविज्ञान तथा पुरातत्त्व का गहरा ज्ञान था। ये पहले वैज्ञानिक थे जिन्होंने रेडियो और सूक्ष्म तरंगों की प्रकशिकी पर कार्य किया। साथ ही ये भारत के पहले वैज्ञानिक शोधकर्ता थे। इन्हें रेडियो विज्ञान का पिता माना जाता है। ये विज्ञानकथाएँ भी लिखते थे और इन्हें बंगाली विज्ञानकथा-साहित्य का पिता भी माना जाता है। इन्होंने बेतार के संकेत भेजने में असाधारण प्रगति की और सबसे पहले रेडियो संदेशों को पकड़ने के लिए अर्धचालकों का प्रयोग करना शुरू किया। लेकिन अपनी खोजों से व्यावसायिक लाभ उठाने की जगह इन्होंने इन्हें सार्वजनिक रुप से प्रकाशित कर दिया ताकि अन्य शोधकर्त्ता इनपर आगे काम कर सकें। इसके बाद इन्होंने वनस्पति जीवविद्या में अनेक खोजें की। इन्होंने एक यंत्र क्रेस्कोग्राफ का अविष्कार किया और इससे विभिन्न उत्तेजकों के प्रति पौधों की प्रतिक्रिया का अध्ययन किया। इस तरह से इन्होंने सिद्ध किया कि वनस्पतियों और पशुओं के ऊतकों में काफी समानता है। ये पेटेंट प्रक्रिया के बहुत विरुद्ध थे और मित्रों के कहने पर इन्होंने एक पेटेंट के लिए आवेदन किया। "

- Description: यह पुस्तक भारतीय संविधान के ऐतिहासिक सच, तथ्य, कथ्य और यथार्थ की कौतूहलता का सजीव चित्रण करती है। संविधान की कल्पना, अवधारणा और उसका उलझा इतिहास इसमें समाहित है। घटनाएँ इतिहास नहीं होतीं, उसके नायक इतिहास बनाते हैं। 1920 से महात्मा गांधी ने स्वाधीनता आंदोलन की मुख्यधारा का नेतृत्व किया। उन्होंने ही स्वराज्य को पुनर्परिभाषित किया। फिर संविधान की कल्पना को शब्दों में उतारा। इस तरह संविधान की अवधारणा का जो विकास हुआ, उसके राजनीतिक नायक महात्मा गांधी हैं। वे संविधान सभा के गठन, उसे विघटित होने से बचाने और सत्ता हस्तांतरण की हर प्रक्रिया में अत्यंत सतर्क हैं। उन्होंने हर मोड़ पर कांग्रेस को बौद्धिक, विधिक, राजनीतिक और नैतिक मार्गदर्शन दिया। संविधान के इतिहास से पता नहीं क्यों, इसे ओझल किया गया है। ग्रेनविल ऑस्टिन ने जो स्थापना दी, उसके विपरीत इस पुस्तक में महात्मा गांधी की नेतृत्वकारी भूमिका का प्रामाणिक विवरण है। पंडित नेहरू बड़बोले नेता थे। खंडित चित्त से उनका व्यक्तित्व विरोधाभासी था। संविधान के इतिहास में वह दिखता है। इस पुस्तक में उसके तथ्य हैं कि कैसे उन्हें अपने कहे से बार-बार अनेक कदम पीछे हटना पड़ा जब 1945 से 1947 के दौरान ब्रिटिश सरकार से समझौते हो रहे थे। सरदार पटेल ने मुस्लिम सदस्यों को सहमत कराकर पृथक् निर्वाचन प्रणाली को समाप्त कराया, जिससे संविधान सांप्रदायिकता से मुक्त हो सका। इसे कितने लोग जानते हैं! डॉ. भीमराव आंबेडकर ने उद्देशिका में बंधुता का समावेश कराया। डॉ. राजेंद्र प्रसाद ने संविधान सभा का भरोसा उन झंझावातों में भी विचलित होने नहीं दिया। संविधान की नींव में जो पत्थर लगे उन्हें बेनेगल नरसिंह राव ने लगाया, जिस पर इमारत बनी। उस इतिहास में एक पन्ना ‘राजद्रोह धाराओं की वापसी’ का भी है, जिसे असंवैधानिक संविधान संशोधन कहना उचित होगा। पंडित नेहरू ने यह कराया। यह अनकही कहानी भी इसमें आ गई है।

- Description: The outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020, afforded an opportunity, though in adversity, amidst our lives going topsy-turvy, and in forced solitude. I started writing regularly tracking the journey of COVID-19, its fall out and the transformation in our lives as a sequel and sharing on electronic media. Unconsciously my style of writing became prose in poetry, generally concluding with befitting couplets of Urdu poetry. | was buoyed by the inspiring comments of my friends, who genuinely prompted me to consoli- date my thoughts and take it to the next level. This is how exactly my book project took off. In my write-ups, I quite often venture into the coveted realms of great thinkers, philosophers, saints and Yogis, who have spent their lifetimes to understand the enigmatic human life, a beautiful gift of God, yet for average mortals like me, remains a labyrinth, a conundrum. Nevertheless I could peep into some aspects, and the veil did lift a bit, going through treasured writings of the extraordi- nary authors and exalted souls like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Paramhansa Yogananda, and Sri Aurobindo. Above all Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali, a collection of highly inspirational poems, devoted to the universal Lord, did leave an indelible imprint in my mind.
