- Description: अरुण प्रकाश ने स्पष्ट किया है कि हिंदी में किस तरह 'विधा' का इस्तेमाल 'फॉर्म' और 'जेनर' दोनों अर्थों के लिए होता है। उनके अनुसार उपन्यास एक रूपबंध है जिसकी कई विधाएँ हो सकती हैं। मुख्य बात है, विधाओं या रूपबंधों की सैद्धांतिक कहानी उद्ïघाटित करना, जो 'गद्य की पहचान' में बड़े विस्तार और रोचक ढंग से है। पश्चिम के साहित्यिक सिद्धांतकारों ने फॉर्म और जेनर पर बड़े-बड़े काम किए हैं। मेरे देखने में हिंदी में इधर इस ढंग का यह पहला काम है, जिसमें कुछ बुनियादी सवाल उठाए गए हैं। इस संग्रह के निबंधों में अरस्तू से लेकर बाख्तिन, रोलां बार्थ, तोदोरोव, देरिदा आदि तक के विचारों पर चर्चा है। यह जानने की चीज है कि आखिरकार कोई रूपबंध क्यों अस्तित्व में आता है, किसी युग में कुछ खास रूपबंध या विधाएँ प्रधान क्यों हो उठती हैं, जीवनी जैसा प्राचीन रूपबंध अब भी क्यों जीवित है, जबकि महाकाव्य जैसा शक्तिशाली रूपबंध मर गया, क्या इस रूपबंध की कुछ सीमाएँ और नियम हैं, मिश्रण या संकरता क्यों घटित होती है, क्या नए रूपबंध या विधाएँ पुरातन के ही कायांतर हैं, चिर-परिचित रूपबंध पाठकीय मनोविज्ञान पर कैसा प्रभाव डालते हैं, साहित्यकार किसी रूपबंध से कितना रेजिमेंटेड होता है और कितना उसे तोड़कर नई जमीन देता है—अरुण प्रकाश ने ऐसे ढेरों प्रश्नों की रोशनी में गद्य की पहचान की है। शंभुनाथ (भूमिका से)

यह पुस्तक बंगबन्धु के रूप में सम्मानित-स्वीकृत शेख मुजीबुर रहमान की आत्मकथा है, जिसे उन्होंने अपने कारावास के दिनों में लिखी थी। इसमें उन्होंने अपने 1955 तक के निजी और सार्वजनिक जीवन का लेखा-जोखा प्रस्तुत किया है।
इस पुस्तक से ज़ाहिर होता है कि एक सच्चे जननेता के रूप में उनकी हैसियत कितनी ऊँची थी। अपने देश और अपने लोगों के लिए उन्होंने अपने जीवन को जोखिम में डालकर संघर्ष का एक ऊँचा उदाहरण पेश किया।
प्रथम दृष्ट्या तथ्यों पर आधारित इस आत्मकथा में हमें भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन की कुछ झलकियों के अलावा पाकिस्तान आन्दोलन, भाषा आन्दोलन, बांग्लादेश की स्वाधीनता के आन्दोलन और इसके दौरान पाकिस्तानी शासन द्वारा किए गए षड्यंत्रों और दमन से सम्बन्धित अनेक दुर्लभ ऐतिहासिक तथ्यों और कहानियों की जानकारी मिलेगी।
कई वर्षों तक अनुपलब्ध रही इस आत्मकथा को सामने लाने का श्रेय उनकी पुत्री शेख हसीना और उनके अन्य परिजनों को जाता है जिन्होंने अत्यन्त परिश्रम के साथ जर्जर, खस्ताहाल काग़ज़ों में से इस दस्तावेज़ को सम्भव किया।

Through unmatched grit and determination, they succeeded in bringing down the mighty Empire to its knees, eventually leading to its demise.

- Description: "स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के क्रांतिदूत नेताजी सुभाषचंद्र बोस का जन्म 23 जनवरी, 1897 को उड़ीसा के कटक शहर में हुआ था। बचपन से ही सुभाष पढ़ाई में बडे़ कुशाग्र बुद्धि के थे। इंग्लैंड से पढ़ाई करके लौटने पर सुभाष कलकत्ता के प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी देशबंधु चित्तरंजन दास के साथ काम करना चाहते थे। उन दिनों गांधीजी ने अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ असहयोग आंदोलन छेड़ रखा था। उनके साथ सुभाष बाबू उस आंदोलन में सहभागी हो गए और जल्द ही देश के एक महत्त्वपूर्ण युवा नेता बन गए। सन् 1928 में जब साइमन कमीशन भारत आया तो कलकत्ता में सुभाष बाबू ने इस आंदोलन का नेतृत्व किया। सुभाष बाबू गांधीजी और कांग्रेस के तौर-तरीकों से असहमत थे। गांधीजी के विरोध के बावजूद वे कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष चुने गए, पर कार्यकारिणी का सहयोग न मिलने पर उन्होंने त्याग-पत्र दे दिया। नजरबंदी में ब्रिटिश सरकार की आँखों में धूल झोंककर वे जापान पहुँचे और आजाद हिंद फौज की स्थापना की। उन्होंने नारा दिया—‘तुम मुझे खून दो, मैं तुम्हें आजादी दूँगा।’ उन्होंने भारत की आजादी के लिए सशस्त्र संघर्ष किया। सुभाष की राष्ट्रभक्ति बेमिसाल है। उनकी मृत्यु के बारे में अभी तक रहस्य बना हुआ है। कहा जाता है कि 23 अगस्त, 1945 को उनका विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था। राष्ट्रनायक सुभाष बाबू आज भी अदम्य प्रेरणा के स्रोत हैं।
