- Description: ‘भारत का राष्ट्रीय पक्षी और राज्यों के राज्य पक्षी’ एक अनूठी पुस्तक है। इसका उद्देश्य है पाठकों को अपने पर्यावरण के प्रति सचेत व सहृदय बनाना। पिछली अनेक शताब्दियों से विश्व स्तर पर वन-सम्पदा तेजी से नष्ट हो रही है। बीसवीं शताब्दी आते-आते अनेक जीव-जन्तु तथा वृक्ष धरती से समाप्त हो गए। पर्यावरणविदों और पर्यावरण सुरक्षा से सम्बद्ध अन्तरराष्ट्रीय संस्थाओं ने इसे गम्भीरता से लिया। वन्यजीवों को बचाने के लिए डब्ल्यू.डब्ल्यू.एफ. ने चीन के राष्ट्रीय पशु दैत्याकार पांडा को अपना प्रतीक चिह्न बनाया। इससे विलुप्तप्राय पांडा को नया जीवन मिला। इसके साथ ही इस संस्था ने बर्ड फीजैंट एसोसिएशन, इंटरनेशनल यूनियन फ़ॉर कंजरवेशन ऑफ़ नेचर जैसी अन्य संस्थाओं के साथ मिलकर वन्य पशुओं, पक्षियों, वृक्षों, पुष्पों के संरक्षण का कार्य आरम्भ किया। विभिन्न देशों के राष्ट्रीय पशु, राष्ट्रीय पक्षी, राष्ट्रीय वृक्ष और राष्ट्रीय पुष्प इसी का परिणाम हैं। राष्ट्रध्वज, राष्ट्रगान, राष्ट्रचिह्न, राष्ट्रभाषा आदि के समान ये भी राष्ट्र का गौरव हैं। भारत ने स्वतंत्रता के बाद यह कार्य भारतीय वन्यजीव बोर्ड (इंडियन बोर्ड फ़ॉर वाइल्ड लाइफ़) को सौंपा। इस बोर्ड की संस्तुति पर जनवरी, 1963 में मोर को भारत का राष्ट्रीय पक्षी घोषित किया गया। इसके बाद अनेक राज्यों ने भी अपने-अपने राज्य पक्षी घोषित किए। किन्तु कुछ पक्षी ऐसे हैं, जिन्हें दो-दो राज्यों ने अपना राज्य पक्षी घोषित किया है। धनेस, पहाड़ी मैना, मोनाल राज हारिल और श्रीमती ह्यूम फीजैंट ऐसे ही पक्षी हैं। नीलकंठ एक ऐसा पक्षी है, जिसे तीन राज्यों ने अपना राज्य पक्षी घोषित किया है। भारत में दिल्ली और आसाम दो ऐसे राज्य हैं, जिन्होंने अभी तक अपने राज्य पक्षी घोषित नहीं किए हैं। केन्द्रशासित प्रदेशों में केवल लक्षद्वीप ने अपना राज्य पक्षी घोषित किया है। समाजशास्त्री और पर्यावरणविद् डॉ. परशुराम शुक्ल ने इस पुस्तक में इन पक्षियों के बारे में विस्तार से जानकारियाँ दी हैं। ये रोचक और ज्ञानवर्द्धक हैं। हिन्दी में अपने विषय पर यह अकेली पुस्तक है।

- Description: "‘अहल्या उवाच’ हिंदी की प्रख्यात लेखिका डॉ. मृदुला सिन्हा का अद्यतन ग्रंथ है, जिसमें पुराख्यान की आवृत्ति-मात्र नहीं, आधुनिक प्रश्नों की सहज अभिव्यक्ति लक्षित होती है। प्रातःस्मरणीया पंच कन्याओं में अन्यतम अहल्या के शील एवं सतीत्व का यह आत्मकथात्मक आख्यान तथाकथित नारीवाद के दुराग्रह से मुक्त है। पितृसत्ता के संदर्भ में स्त्री-चित्त के मनोविज्ञान की विश्वसनीय प्रस्तुति इसकी विशेषता है, किंतु यहाँ आधुनिक स्त्री-विमर्श की यांत्रिकता एवं गतानुगतिकता के स्थान पर भारतीय संस्कृति में संप्राप्त शिव-शक्ति के अर्द्धनारीश्वरत्व की मान्यता प्रतिष्ठापित की गई है। ‘उपन्यास’ एक पश्चिमी काव्यरूप है, किंतु यह ग्रंथ भारत की उस परंपरागत औपन्यासिक अवधारणा की प्रतीति कराता है, जिसे मृदुलाजी ‘सीता पुनि बोली’, ‘विजयिनी’, ‘परितप्त लंकेश्वरी’ आदि में उदाहृत कर चुकी हैं। ‘उवाच’ शब्द के द्वारा वे भारत के ‘कथा-कोविदों’ की शैली का ही स्मरण दिलाती हैं। वर्णन-क्रम में लोकसंस्कृति के उपादानों के विनियोग से भी इस तथ्य का सत्यापन होता है। आचार्य कुंतक ने प्रबंधगत कथा-विन्यास का विश्लेषण करते हुए ‘प्रकरणवक्रता’ और ‘प्रबंधवक्रता’ का उल्लेख किया है। ज्ञातकथा में नवीन प्रसंगों की उद्भावना तथा मूल इतिवृत्त की अभिनव व्यंजना में उक्त वक्रोक्ति-भेदों की पहचान की जा सकती है। मृदुलाजी ने चिराचरित कथा को संशोधित करते हुए उसे नई दिशाओं में मोड़ा है। पुरावृत्त और आधुनिकता के संग्रथन में उनकी कारयित्री प्रतिभा की सक्रियता देखी जा सकती है। ‘मिथक’ के नवीकरण की यह प्रक्रिया ‘अहल्या उवाच’ की मौलिकता का निर्धारण करती है। यह उपन्यास रामकथा को एक नव्य आयाम प्रदान करता है। मिथिलांचल की अहल्या के समग्र जीवनवृत्त पर केंद्रित इस कृति की परिणति युवाशक्ति के प्रतीक राम के युगांतकारी कर्तृत्व में दृष्टिगत होती है, किंतु मातृशक्ति की महिमा और नई मर्यादा के संस्थापन की यह कथा समाज की प्रस्तरीभूत चेतना के उस अभ्युत्थान का बोध कराती है, जिसके नियामक राम हैं, जो स्वभावतः अहल्या की चारित्रिक चमक एवं पात्रता से अभिभूत हैं। इस दृष्टि से यह रचना राम और अहल्या, दोनों का महत्त्व-मंडन करती है। महीयसी मृदुलाजी की रचनाधर्मिता की यह गौतमी धारा न केवल उनकी अजस्र संवेदनशीलता और लोक-संस्कृति का साक्षात्कार कराती है, अपितु क्षत-विक्षत जीवन-मूल्यों के युग में भारतीय जीवनादर्शों के प्रति आकर्षण भी उत्पन्न करती है। —प्रो. प्रमोद कुमार सिंह (सेवानिवृत्त)
