Shakeel Hasan Shamsi, born on 22 August 1956 in Lucknow, began writing articles during his student days. He launched the weekly Payam-e-Nau in 1982 and later worked at Delhi Doordarshan as an Assistant Producer. He served in various roles at Doordarshan, including News Producer in Bhopal and Delhi, and reported from India and abroad. He also contributed regularly to Inquilab, where he later held editorial responsibilities. After retiring from Inquilab on 22 August 2021, he turned to writing books on a range of subjects.
