- Description: भेड़िया लंगड़े घोड़े को देखकर बहुत खुश हुआ। वह उसके पास गया और लंगड़ाने का कारण पूछने लगा। घोड़े ने बताया कि उसके पिछले दाएँ पैर में चोट लगी है। भेड़िया उस पैर को देखने पहुँचा। लेकिन हुआ क्या? अकेली टहनी तो कोई भी तोड़ सकता है, मगर गट्ठर? एक लोमड़ी ने कछुए को पकड़ लिया लेकिन उसकी खोल को तोड़ना मुश्किल था। इसपर कछुए ने कहा कि मुझे पानी में डाल दो तो मेरी खोल मुलायम हो जाएगी। लोमड़ी ने ऐसा ही किया। इसके बाद क्या हुआ इसका अंदाज़ा आप ख़ुद लगाएँ। क्या वह कछुआ दुबारा दिखा ? वह लकड़हारा जिसकी कुल्हाड़ी नदी में गिर गयी थी और नदी देवता ने जिसे सोने-चाँदी की कुल्हाड़ी देनी चाही थी, लेकिन वह अपनी लोहे की कुल्हाड़ी मांगता रहा। वह बेवकूफ़ था या ईमानदार? यह किताब ऐसी अनेक कहानियों का ख़जाना है। इसमें, बुद्धिमत्ता है, हास्य है, और नैतिक शिक्षा भी, लेकिन सबसे बड़ी बात - सब कुछ बाल सुगम भाषा में है।
