तीसरा उपन्यास ‘एक लड़की की ज़िन्दगी’ है जिसे लेखिका की बेहतरीन तख़लीक़ात में गिना जाता है। यहाँ उन्होंने एक रिफ़्यूजी सिन्धी लड़की के ज़रिए पूरे रिफ़्यूजी तबक़े के दुख-दर्द को उभारा है। उस लड़के की किरदार को लेखिका ने इस तरह पेश किया है कि वह अकेली शख़्सियत न रहकर रिफ़्यूजी औरत का नुमाइंदा किरदार बन जाती है।

इस तरह क़ुर्रतुल ऐन हैदर के ये तीनों उपन्यास उनके फ़न के बेहतरीन नमूनों में गिने जा सकते हैं, साथ ही ये पढ़नेवाले के सामने उर्दू फ़िक्शन के तेवर को बड़े ही कारगर ढंग से पेश करते हैं।

दुल्हन रुख़सत होकर जा चुकी थी। मंझली खाला कोनों में मुँह छिपाकर रोती फिर रही थी। बड़े भैया बार-बार आँसू पीने की कोशिश कर रहे थे। लोगों के उठने के बाद शामियाने के नीचे सोफ़े अब ज़रा बेतरतीबी से पड़े थे। कारचोबी मसनद पर जहाँ निकाह और बाद में आरसी मुसहिफ़ हुआ था, अब बच्चे कूद रहे थे और फूलों के हार बिखरे पड़े थे। मीरासनें गाते-गाते थक चुकी थीं। शहर की ‘ऊँची सोसाइटी’ के अफ़राद मेजबानों को ख़ुदा हाफ़िज़ करके मोटरों में सवार हो रहे थे। बिलकिस रिश्तेदारों के हुजूम में अन्दर बैठी ज़ोर-ज़ोर से हँस रही थी। स्याह शेरवानी और चूड़ीदार पाजामे में मलबूस उसका कज़िन मेहमानों को सिगरेट पेश करते-करते उकताकर सोफ़े पर बैठ गया था। उसकी भाभीजान शामियाने के एक कोने में उसके दोस्तों के हुजूम में खड़ी मसल-ए-कश्मीर पर धुआँधार तकरीर कर रही थी। ‘यह हमारा पटरा करवाएँगी’—नादिर ने ज़रा परेशानी से सोचा और फिर कॉफ़ी मँगवाने के लिए कोठी के अन्दर चला गया।

वह उसी तरह कड़ी बहस में उलझ रही थी जब एक शानदार शख़्स हाथ में कॉफ़ी की प्याली लिए उसके क़रीब से गुज़रा और उसे देखकर बड़ी उदासी से मुस्कराया, गोया उसकी आँखों में तैरते बेपायाँ अलम को समझता हो या समझने की कोशिश कर रहा हो।

सिनेमा और थिएटर के अन्तरिक्ष में विधाओं के आर-पार उड़नेवाले धूमकेतु कलाकार पीयूष मिश्रा यहाँ, इस जिल्द के भीतर सिर्फ़ एक बेचैन शब्दकार के रूप में मौजूद हैं। ये कविताएँ उनके जज़्बे की पैदावार हैं जिन्हें उन्होंने अपनी कामयाबियों से भी कमाया है, नाकामियों से भी। हर अच्छी कविता की तरह ये कविताएँ भी अपनी बात ख़ुद कहने की क़ायल हैं, फिर भी जो ख़ास तौर पर सुनने लायक़ है वह है इनकी बेचैनी जो इनके कंटेंट से लेकर फ़ार्म तक एक ही रचाव के साथ बिंधी है। दूसरी ध्यान रखने लायक़ बात ये कि इनमें से कोई कविता अब तक न मंच पर उतरी है, न परदे पर। यानी यह सिर्फ़ और सिर्फ़ कवि-शायर पीयूष मिश्रा की किताब है।
