- Description: आज स्त्रियों के काम तथा राष्ट्रीय उत्पाद में उनके कुल योगदान का बड़ा महत्त्व राष्ट्रीय तथा अन्तरराष्ट्रीय दोनों ही स्तरों पर स्वीकार कर लिया गया है। यह भी मान लिया गया है कि एक पुरुष को साक्षर बनाने से एक व्यक्ति ही साक्षर होता है, जबकि एक स्त्री के शिक्षित होने से एक पूरा कुनबा! अकाट्य तौर से यह भी प्रमाणित हो चुका है, कि ग़रीबतम तबके की औरतों तक स्वास्थ्य सम्बन्धी जानकारियों तथा सुविधाएँ पहुँचाए बिना संक्रामक रोगों अथवा आबादी पर अंकुश लगाना क़तई नामुमकिन है। इसलिए ज़रूरत है कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की वर्तमान रपट का महत्त्व तथा शरणार्थी समस्या का यह अनदेखा पहलू हमारी सरकार भी समझे और इन उपेक्षित स्त्रियों में कौन हिन्दू है, कौन ग़ैर-हिन्दू, इसकी स्वार्थी विवेचना की बजाय उन तक ज़रूरी नागरिक सुविधाएँ और आजीविका के संसाधन पहुँचाने की यथाशीघ्र चेष्टा की जाए, वरना लाख प्रयत्नों के बावजूद राष्ट्रीय प्रगति सही रफ़्तार नहीं पकड़ पाएगी। कवि रहीम ने कहा भी था, कि जिस व्यक्ति को याचक बनकर जाना पड़ता है, वह तो जीते जी मरता है, पर उससे भी गया-गुज़रा वह है, जिसके मुँह से निकलता है ‘नहीं’। क्या इन अधमरी स्त्रियों की ज़रूरतों को जाति-धर्म की तुला पर तौलते हुए हम हर बार राष्ट्र के ज़मीर की हत्या नहीं करते हैं?
