Socrates believed that the senses of the body create difficulty for the Mind to think, and thus, he came to regard the physical world as deceptive. Socrates believed that his work, which he sought to understand through critical questioning and dialogue, was given to him as a divine mission, and hence, was his duty. His total lack of interest in material possessions was evident by his being always barefoot and wearing an old cloak the whole year around. His habit of going barefoot even in winter showed his power of endurance as well. To him, the aspiration for virtue was the highest aim anyone could have.

- Description: वर्ष 1990 के शुरू का कश्मीर, जब घाटी में आतंकी हिंसा चरम सीमा पर थी। हत्याएँ, आगजनी और आतंकियों का प्रकोप काले धुएँ की तरफ फैल गया था। इसलामिक और आजादी के नारे चारों ओर गूँज रहे थे। पंडितों को कश्मीर से जाने की चेतावनी दी जा रही थी और उन्हें मजबूर करने के लिए रोज एक या कई पंडितों को क्रूरता-बर्बरतापूर्वक मारा जाता था। यही सब इस डायरी रूपी उपन्यास में पूरी तरह से दरशाया गया है और आतंकियों तथा खुदगर्ज राजनीति नेताओं के फैलाए हुए झूठ कि पंडितों को जगमोहन ने निकाल दिया, को नंगा कर दिया है। बहुत ही सटीक और मार्मिक घटनाओं में पंडितों की बेबसी और मजबूरी को उजागर किया है। डायरी का नायक अकेला है और मानसिक तनाव से ग्रस्त भी। खौफ के माहौल में अपनी पुरानी यादें भी जीता है, जिससे उसका आज और भी भयानक तरीके से उभर आता है। अंत तक इसी द्वंद्व में रहता है कि घाटी में रहना चाहिए या जाना चाहिए। इसी उधेड़बुन में उसका अंत भी होता है, पर यह सवाल भी उठता है कि या उसे कश्मीरियों की तरह अपने घर में रहने का हक है या नहीं। यह मार्मिक कथा भारत के इतिहास में एक काले धबे से कम नहीं है।

- Description: "डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर को भारत में दलितों के मसीहा के रूप में देखा जाता है । सन् 1947 में उन्हें संविधान सभा द्वारा स्वतंत्र भारत के लिए संविधान का प्रारूप तैयार करने के लिए गठित प्रारूपण समिति का अध्यक्ष बनाया गया । संविधान के निर्माण में उनकी महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही । उनका जन्म वर्तमान मध्य प्रदेश के एक छोटे से कस्बे महू (इंदौर के निकट) में 14 अप्रैल, 1891 को हुआ था । वे पिता सूबेदार रामजी एवं माँ भीमाबाई शकपाल की चौदहवीं संतान थे । महार जाति का होने के कारण उन्हें ' अछूत ' समझा जाता था । उनके पिता और दादा ने ब्रिटिश सेना में नौकरी की थी । तत्कालीन सरकार द्वारा सभी सैन्य-कर्मियों के बच्चों की शिक्षा हेतु अच्छे स्कूलों का प्रबंध किया गया था । इसलिए निम्न जाति के होने के बावजूद उन्हें अच्छी शिक्षा प्राप्त हुई । सन् 1937 में डॉ अंबेडकर ने कोंकण क्षेत्र में महारों के सरकारी गुलाम के रूप में काम करने की ' खोती प्रथा ' को समाप्त करने के लिए एक विधेयक पेश किया । 1947 में भारत के स्वतंत्र होने पर उन्होंने कानून मंत्री के पद को सुशोभित किया । उन्होंने आह्वान किया, ' छीने हुए अधिकार भीख में नहीं मिलते, अधिकार वसूल करना होता है । ' उनके उल्लेखनीय कार्यों के लिए वर्ष 1990 में मरणोपरांत उन्हें भारत के सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान ' भारत रत्न ' से सम्मानित किया गया । प्रस्तुत है गरीब, असहाय तथा दबे- कुचलों को ऊपर उठानेवाले एक सच्चे मसीहा की प्रेरणास्पद एवं पठनीय रोचक जीवनी । "

लिंगो पेन देवता। यह गाँव के बच्चों और युवाओं का निवास स्थान है। कबीले के हर अविवाहित लड़के और लड़की को इसका सदस्य बनना पड़ता है। घोटुल की सदस्यता मात्र मन-बहलाव का साधन नहीं है बल्कि धार्मिक आस्थाओं से जुड़ी एक सामाजिक परम्परा है। इस परम्परा को कड़े नियमों द्वारा नियन्त्रित किया जाता है।
यहाँ लड़कों को चेलिक और लड़कियों को मुटियारी कहा जाता है। लड़कों का नेता सरदार है तो लड़कियों की नेता बैलोसा है। मुरिया जीवन के आर्थिक, सामाजिक, धार्मिक पहलुओं का वर्णन करता हुआ घोटुल सिर्फ़ एक रात्रि क्लब है, दिन में इसके सदस्यों को खाने की व्यवस्था, खेती, शिकार, मछली पकड़ना, शहद एकत्रित करना व सागो ताड़ का रस तथा ईंधन जुटाने में व्यस्त कर दिया जाता है।
मुरिया जीवन को खोलती इस पुस्तक में मुरिया समुदाय के जीवन के हर पहलू, उनकी आजीविका, कबीले का संगठन, बचपन, युवावस्था, धर्म और उनके देवताओं का वर्णन विस्तार से प्रामाणिक ढंग से किया गया है।
