About Kiran Nagarkar
Kiran Nagarkar, born on 2nd April 1942 and passed away on 5th September 2019, was a renowned Indian novelist, playwright and screenwriter. He was highly regarded as a drama and film critic, and was considered as one of the most important writers of post-colonial India.
Some of his noteworthy works include Saat Sakkam Trechalis (translated as Seven Sixes Are Forty-Three) (1974), Ravan and Eddie (1994), and Cuckold (1997), for which he was honoured with the 2001 Sahitya Akademi Award in English by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters. His English novels have been translated into the German language. In 2012, he was conferred with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
