Kavita Kane
Kavita Kané is a bestselling author of eight novels and a prominent figure in Indian literature for integrating feminism into mythology. Her notable works—Karna’s Wife (2013), Sita’s Sister (2014), Menaka’s Choice (2015), Lanka’s Princess (2016), The Fisher Queen’s Dynasty (2017), Ahalya’s Awakening (2019), Sarasvati’s Gift (2021), and Tara’s Truce (2023)—reinterpret lesser-known women from Indian myth, giving them modern, powerful relevance. With a background in journalism, Kavita has postgraduate degrees in English Literature and Mass Communication & Journalism from the University of Pune. Over more than twenty years, she was affiliated with Magna Publishing, DNA, and served as Assistant Editor at The Times of India before pursuing writing full-time. A passionate lover of theater, cinema, and the arts, she is also a columnist, screenwriter, and motivational speaker who has spoken at universities, cultural venues, and literary festivals throughout India. Born in Mumbai and raised in Patna and Delhi, Kavita now resides in Pune with her husband, Prakash, a mariner; their daughters, Kimaya and Amiya; two dogs, Chic and Beau; and Cotton, their curious cat.
