Bhuri Bai Bhil hails from the Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh. She is a natural learner and picked up the art of painting from the village badwa’s paint, the traditional Bhil Pithora. She is presently associated with the Tribal Museum of Bhopal. She is the first Bhil artist to use paper and is known for her drawings of the flora and fauna of the region. She has been honoured by ‘Shikhar Samman’ (1986-1987) and 'Ahillya Sanman' from the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
