Young Gagan is at ease being what he is: quiet, gentle, sensitive, and an animal and book lover. But his family and friends think of him as being not boy enough, and want to make him more boy-like. Gagan, however, has enough tricks up his sleeve to show the world that there are no boy-boys or unboy-boys. Just boys. And just girls. Gender stereotyping has strong under currents in the social fabric of India and in many cultures around the world. Richa Jha tackles this difficult subject with unburdened simplicity and lightness of tone. Gautam Benegal brings the characters to life with sensitivity and electrifying dynamism. His gentle and endearing water colours match the mood and pace of the story, making it an unforgettable read.

Little Gagan is soft-hearted, gentle. He doesn't accompany his friends in their mischievous acts of hurting innocent animals or indulge unnecessarily in frequent fights. They call him 'BABY GIRL' Lonely Gagan sinks into bed and asks his mother 'Mom, am I really a boy? ' This is the harsh reality of society. Bullying is very common in schools, irrespective of where u live. Many people would argue that it makes u strong, but I'd rather argue that it makes one under confident, vulnerable and sometimes unsure of their existence, like- Gagan. If u r a boy, u have to do this, or if u r a girl, u have to sit this way or walk like that. I'm tired of hearing such stereotypes. It's time to normalise that it's okay to be different. And this book takes a huge step towards this goal. I've got this book from Rachnaye app. U can also check out various other books like this one from this app.
