There has been a ghost in the house for three hundred years, and Lord Canterville's family have had enough of it. So Lord Canterville sells his grand old house to an American family. Mr Hiram B. Otis is happy to buy the house and the ghost - because of course Americans don't believe in ghosts. The Canterville ghost has great plans to frighten the life out of the Otis family. The Canterville Ghost is set in the English countryside in the late 19th century. Most of the story takes place in Canterville Chase, which is described as an old mansion with secret rooms and passageways, long corridors stained glass windows, and oak paneling. Pictures of long-dead Canterville ancestors, ancient tapestries, and a suit of armor add to the medieval-like setting. Overall, it seems to fit the stereotype of a haunted house. The book follows fairy tale conventions and Wilde introduces Virginia Otis, a fairy-tale type heroine. Otis must believe that there is a soul worth saving in the murderous and grisly Sir Simon. Her actions, however, lead to a happy ending. Otis marries a Duke and receives a casket of valuable jewels from the Ghost.

Age group 6-8 years

Nahid Kazemi...thank you for making such a delightful book. The story is beautiful, but we were engrossed in its illustrations. Some old things never get old, just like this Narangi Ghar. A poet once said that the world is created every day. However, it does not get old every day. Narangi Ghar story is for everyone...whoever reads it- children or adults...just like looking at the river....children see it from their perspective, as do adults. Age group 9-12 years

Age group 6-8 years

Sheela is any happy child growing up in Sukkur, Sind – playing with friends, sewing dresses for her dolls... She lives with her uncle whom she calls Baba, father, just across the road from her real parents. The turbulent times in the run up to Independence don’t touch her. Till suddenly, there’s Partition.
