It is no replacement for a textbook of surgery but it has practical tips which will help in difficult circumstances to help the patient. It will help the novice to step into the shoes that he is expected to wear to become a successful and above all a good doctor, sympathetic towards all�his patients and their relatives and with his colleagues and other members of his profession. Moreover, he will gain knowledge from a seasoned doctor who will help him handle any situation with ease and fulfill his professional goal.

The story is told. The curtain has been brought down on it. Two life sentences have been run. And I have brought my recollections of them within the cover of this book. They are narrated in brief and put together within the narrowest. When I came into this world, God sent me here, possibly on a sort of life sentence. It was the span of life allotted to me by time to stay in this "prison-house of life". This story is a chapter of the book of life, a long story that has not yet ended. You can finish reading the book in a day, while I had to live it for 14 long years of transportation. And if the story is so tiresome, unendurable and disgusting to you, how much must have been the living of it for me! "Six Glorious Epochs of Indian History is a learning experience which covers the period of Muslim invasions in India and brave retaliation by the natives. No less was the struggle of Indian manes against British rule and for freedom and liberation of the mother country. The author’s tribute to the martyrs and his letters to dear ones from Andamans, miscellaneous statements and writings are also included in this book. The first four epochs are covered in only hundred plus pages while the last two epochs span almost four hundred plus pages, signifying the importance that the author gave to this period. So far we have been given the picture of British rule, the history and politics in India by foreign and leftist writers, but in this book Veer Savarkar makes us look at the country’s history and politics from the Bharatiya perspective. Not only does he analyse the mistakes committed by Hindus since the time of Alexander’s invasion till the British rule, he tries to enlighten our minds with the prevalent situation in his time. "वर्ष 1890 के वसंत में मैंने बोलना सीखा। मेरे अंदर हमेशा यह इच्छा उमड़ती रहती थी कि मैं श्रव्य ध्वनियाँ मुँह सेनिकाल सकूँ। मैँ एक हाथ अपने गले पर रखकर शोर किया करती थ्‍ज्ञी और दूसे हाथ से अपने होंठों का चलना महसूस करती थी। मुझे शोर करनेवाली हर चीज पसंद थी और बिल्ली का घुरघुराना तथा कुत्ते का भौंकना मुझे अच्छा लगता था। मुझे अपना एक हाथ गायक के गले पर रखना भी अच्छा लगता था। अपनी दृष्‍ट‌ि और श्रवण-शक्‍त‌ि खोने से पहले मैं बात करना जल्दी सीखने लगी थी; लेकिन मेरी बीमारीक े बाद यह पता चला कि मेरा बोलना इसलिए बंद हो गया, क्योंकि मैं सुन नहीं सकती थी। मैं सारे-सारे दिन अपनी माँ की गोद में बैठी रहती थी और अपना हाथ माँ के चेहरे पर रखे रहती थी, क्योंकि उसके होंठों की क्रिया को महसूस करने में मुझे आनंद आता था और मैं अपने होंठ भी हिलाती थी; हालाँकि मैं भूल चुकी थी कि बात करना क्या होता है। —इसी आत्मकथा से हेलन कीलर इस रूप में प्रेरणाप्रद हैं कि बोल-सुन-देख न पाने के बावजूद उन्होंने अद‍्भुत जिजीविषा, लगन, परिश्रम व साहस के बल पर जीवन जिया—एक सार्थक जीवन। और विश्‍व को दिखा दिया कि शारीरिक अक्षमता होते हुए भी व्यक्‍त‌ि अगर ठान ले तो चुनौतीपूर्ण जीवन भी आसानी से जिया जा सकता है। विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी धैर्य रखने और साहस दिखाने का अनुपम उदाहरण बनी हेलन कीलर के जीवन से हम प्रेरणा लें तो इस पुस्तक का प्रकाशन सार्थक होगा।"

नवजागरण अपने राष्ट्रीय जागरण व सुधारवादी आन्दोलन के दौरान अनेक सार्थक प्रयासों और अपनी सफलताओं के लिए जाना जाता है। यह वही दौर था जब साम्राज्य विरोधी चेतना एक विराट राष्ट्रीय आन्दोलन का रूप ले चुकी थी, और राष्ट्रवाद अपने पूरे उफान पर था। मगर बावजूद इसके यह दौर अनेक विडम्बनाओं और विरोधाभासों के साथ-साथ कई विवादों का जन्मदाता भी रहा है। सबसे बड़ी विडम्बना इसकी यह रही कि दलित-प्रश्न और स्त्री-लेखन इसके परिदृश्य से पूरी तरह ग़ायब रहे। विशेषकर स्त्री-मुक्ति की छटपटाहट और चिन्ता इसके चिन्तन के केन्द्र में जैसे रहे ही नहीं। स्त्री-शिक्षा के अभाव और पितृसत्तात्मक व्यवस्था की गहरी पैठ के चलते, यह छटपटाहट हिन्दी साहित्य के इस दौर के इतिहास में अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराने से वंचित रह गई। बाद में इस काल के साहित्यिक परिदृश्य और विशेषताओं को हिन्दी के अनेक महानायकों ने रेखांकित और विश्लेषित किया, लेकिन उनकी नज़रों से भी यह छटपटाहट अलक्षित और ओझल ही रही। इन महानायकों के सामने पुरुषों द्वारा रचित वही लेखन रहा, जिसके कारण हिन्दी नवजागरण को अतिशयोक्ति में कभी-कभी ‘हिन्दू नवजागरण’ भी कहा जाता है। ऐसे में यह प्रश्न उठना स्वाभाविक है कि हिन्दी नवजागरण के शुरुआत से लेकर आधुनिक काल (द्विवेदी युग) का पूरा कालखंड स्त्री-लेखन (स्त्रियों द्वारा किया गया लेखन) रहित रहा है? आख़िर ऐसे कौन से कारण थे जिनके चलते स्त्री-लेखन के रूप में, जो भी लेखन प्रकाश में आया, वह पुरुषों द्वारा ही किया गया लेखन था? ये ऐसे प्रश्न हैं जो हिन्दी साहित्य में बड़ी बहस की माँग करते हैं। बड़ी इसलिए कि यह मात्र एक धारणा या भ्रामक प्रचार है कि हिन्दी नवजागरण और उसके बाद के कुछ दशकों के दौरान स्त्री-लेखन नहीं हुआ। ‘अबलाओं का इन्साफ़’ (1927) को इसके उदाहरण के रूप में देखा जा सकता है। यह आत्मकथा गम्भीर स्त्री-प्रश्नों के साथ-साथ उस पुरुषवादी मानसिकता और सोच को पूरी निर्ममता के साथ बेपर्दा और उनके ऊपर जमी गर्द को पोंछती है, जिसे या तो जानबूझकर पोंछा नहीं गया या किसी कारणवश छोड़ दिया गया।
