Sujatha Padmanabhan
Sujatha Padmanabhan has been associated with Kalpavriksh since 1984, and she has been working with the organization full time since 2000. She is a trained special educator and has previously worked for 10 years with children who have multiple disabilities in Delhi. At Kalpavriksh, Sujatha has been mainly involved in environment education for children. She has helped develop and implement locale-specific environment education programs for children in different parts of India, such as Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka, the cold deserts of Ladakh, and the salt deserts of Kachchh. She has also written a few storybooks for children and co-authored two environment education handbooks and resource kits for educators - "Forests Alive!" and "Ri Gyancha". Moreover, Sujatha has supported Kalpavriksh's alternatives work and coordinated Vikalp Sangam projects. She was also involved in a case study of an alternative school for adivasi children in Chhattisgarh. Outside of work, Sujatha loves nature-watching, listening to a bubbling stream, and walking in the mountains.
