Leeladhar Mandloi
Leeladhar Mandloi was born on the 15th of October 1953, in a small hamlet named Gurhi in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, India. He reached from the post of Transmission Executive to the position of Director General of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Leeladhar Mandloi is a poet, non-fiction author, media expert, digital painter, art critic, and filmmaker. Mr Mandloi was awarded a Travelling Bursary to study advanced broadcasting techniques at BBC London in 1987. As Director General, he represented the country on many International Broadcasting platforms. He also contributed to setting up the National Audio Archives of AIR. From 1992-93, he joined Doordarshan and became Director General of Doordarshan between 2008 and 2010. He produced documentaries on writers and a good number of telefilms. He has substantial experience in arranging Asian and International events of Sports-the Asian Games, the Olympics, the World Military Games, the Commonwealth Games etc. He was involved in opening and looking after DD National, DD India, DD Bharti, DD Bangla, and Marketing Divisions as a charge. Being an established poet and a writer, he has been active in literature for over forty years. He has 38 books to his credit, ranging from poetry, essays, memoirs, diary, and translations to media writings and many edited books. He has been the editor of 'Naya Gyanodaya', the prestigious magazine of Bhartiya Jnanpith, between 2014 and 2018. He represented the Government of India at World Book Fair, Germany (2003 -2004). He has also worked on a translation project of representative Hindi stories for publication in Indian Languages. Awards: He has received several awards for his poetry and literary works. Some noted awards include the International Pushkin Award (for literary contribution); and National Awards like Kabir Samman, Nagarjun Puraskar, Shamsher Samman, Ramvilas Sharma Samman, Raza Samman, Vagishwari Award, Kriti Samman and Sahityakar Samman. After superannuation, he was appointed Director Bhartiya Gyanpith (Times of India Group). He was involved in the Gyanpeeth and Moortydevi Awards selection committee. He is currently associated as Co-Director (Culture) with Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal. In his current role as an abstractionist, he exhibits a unique temper in his paintings and also retains the quintessential poetic sensibilities.
