Eleanor H. Porter (19 Dec., 1868 21 May, 1920) was a renowned writer of popular novels and short stories. Her novel, Pollyanna, is an all-time best seller. The success of this novel encouraged her to write a sequel, Pollyanna Grows Up. Eventually, eleven more Pollyanna sequels were published. Two of her other novels—Miss Billy and Just David were also very well received. She gave up her career in music to take up writing short stories, which were published in leading newspapers and magazines
