We read the dialogue between Shri Krishna and Arjuna and these teachings of Shri Krishna as the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Shrimad Bhagavad Gita means the song of wisdom sung by God. We can see Shri Krishna not only as Arjuna's charioteer, but also as the charioteer of our lives. By following the path shown by him, we can find relief from all the worries and sorrows of life. The Bhagavad Gita is like a continuously flowing river of ideas and knowledge, irrigating Indian culture for ages and giving the message of moving forward on the path of action. Its ocean of knowledge is deep and vast; the more we immerse ourselves in it, the more pearls of wisdom we receive. The Bhagavad Gita, a journey of knowledge, defines action and leadership in seven chapters; this is the aim of this book. Like almost every major religious text in India, the Gita cannot be accurately dated to its composition. However, it appears to have been composed later than the 'classical' Upanishads, with the possible exception of Maitri, and to have been a work of Buddhism post-dating the period. It is clear from materials dating from the fifth and second centuries BCE that the major teachings of both the Upanishads and early Buddhism were similar to those of the Gita, as was the dualistic teaching, commonly known as Samkhya, later defined in the Samakhya-karika Ishakrpa.
