जी हाँ! वह जागरण की ही रात थी। मुलायम सिंह जागते रहे थे इस चाव में कि कल 30 अक्तूबर को डेढ़ कार सेवक भी उनकी प्रिय मसजिद की ओर नहीं बढ़ पाएगा तो मैं किन शब्दों में अपनी महान् विजय का बखान दूरदर्शन पर करूँगा।
लाखों कार सेवक जागते रहे इस ललक, उछाह और सौभाग्य की प्रतीक्षा में कि कब दिन निकले और हमें अपने आराध्य रामलला के श्रीचरणों में जीवन पुष्प चढ़ाने का सौभाग्य मिले। हवाएँ, तारक मालाएँ, अनंत आकाश और धवल चंद्रमा जागते रहे उन राम सेनानियों पर आशीषों की वर्षा करने में जो कल अपने प्राण हथेली पर लेकर निहत्थे मशीनगनों की गोलियों की बौछारों में सीने तानकर आगे बढ़ेंगे।
और माँ सरयू जाग रही थी उस पावन रक्त के अपनी जलनाशि में आ मिलने की आशंका में दहती हुई जो कल अयोध्या की गलियों और उसके पुल पर बहने वाला है। उस रात तो स्वयं नींद भी जागी थी। पल-पल का मोल अमोल और अनमोल हो उठा था।
