Hailing from Gangolihat (Pithoragarh) in Uttarakhand, Umesh Pant is a writer, photographer, and a traveler at heart. He is author of Hindi travelogues 'Innerline Pass' and 'Door Durgam Durust' and Hindi Ghazal collection 'Zehen Ka Perahan'. He completed his post graduation in mass communication from MCRC, Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi and has worked as an associate writer with Balaji Telefilms, before turning story writer for the radio show ‘Yaadon ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra’ on Big FM and other story telling shows in Saavn and Red FM. He has also worked as a roving writer with the rural newspaper Gaon Connection. He regularly writes for mainstream Hindi newspapers and also an editor of website 'Yatrakaar'.
