‘क्रान्तिवीर भगत सिंह : ‘अभ्युदय’ और ‘भविष्य’’ आज़ादी की लड़ाई, ख़ासकर इन्क़लाबी नौजवानों के संघर्ष की हक़ीक़त तलाशती कोशिश का नतीजा है।
पुस्तक में शामिल पत्रिकाओं ‘अभ्युदय’ और ‘भविष्य’ की सामग्री हिन्दुस्तान की आज़ादी के संग्राम को ठीक से समझने के लिए बेहद ज़रूरी है।
‘अभ्युदय’ ने भगत सिंह के मुक़दमे और फाँसी के हालात पर भरपूर सामग्री छापी और 8 मई, 1931 को प्रकाशित उसका ‘भगत सिंह विशेषांक’ ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा ज़ब्त कर लिया गया।
भगत सिंह के जीवन, व्यक्तित्व और परिवार को लेकर जो सामग्री ‘अभ्युदय’ व ‘भविष्य’ में छापी गई—विशेषतः भगत सिंह व उनके परिवार के चित्र—उसी से पूरे देश में भगत सिंह की विशेष छवि निर्मित हुई।
‘भविष्य’ साप्ताहिक इलाहाबाद से रामरख सिंह सहगल के सम्पादन में निकलता था। पहले पं. सुन्दरलाल के सम्पादन में ‘भविष्य’ निकलता था, जिसमें रामरख सिंह सहगल काम करते थे।
2 अक्टूबर, 1930 को गांधी जयन्ती पर रामरख सिंह सहगल ने, जो स्वयं युक्तप्रान्त कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति के सदस्य थे, ‘भविष्य’ साप्ताहिक का प्रकाशन शुरू किया। पहले अंक से ही भगत सिंह आदि पर सामग्री प्रकाशित कर, ‘भविष्य’ ने सनसनी फैला दी। ‘भविष्य’ में भगत सिंह की फाँसी के बाद के हालात का जीवन्त चित्रण हुआ है।
‘भविष्य’ और ‘अभ्युदय’ से कुछ चुनिन्दा चित्र इस किताब में शामिल किए गए हैं।
सम्पादक प्रो. चमन लाल ने विलुप्तप्राय तथ्यों को इस पुस्तक में सँजोकर ऐतिहासिक कार्य किया है। वस्तुतः इस इन्क़लाबी वृत्तान्त को पढ़ना स्वतंत्रता की अदम्य जिजीविषा से साक्षात्कार करना है।

- Description: कालजयी उपन्यास यह ‘पथ बन्धु था’ के बाद भारतीय जीवन का सर्वांगीण परिप्रेक्ष्य प्रस्तुत करनेवाला यह उपन्यास ‘उत्तरकथा’ आधुनिक कथा-साहित्य की न केवल निष्णात ही, बल्कि सम्पूर्ण सांस्कृतिक औपन्यासिक कृति है। स्वरूप का नहीं, प्रयोजन का नाम है महाकाव्य। आज उपन्यास ही महाकाव्य है, एतदर्थ ‘उत्तरकथा' महाकाव्य भी है। देश और काल के विशाल फलक पर चलते साधारण मनुष्य की बड़ी-छोटी परछाइयाँ ही यह संसार है। जब इसी मानवीय संसार की यथार्थता को प्रयोजन-दृष्टि प्राप्त हो जाती है तब मनुष्य सृष्टि मात्र, प्राणि मात्र का प्रतिनिधित्व करनेवाला 'पुरुष' हो जाता है। बड़ी रचनात्मकता कभी भी केवल यथार्थ को ही अन्तिम नहीं मान सकती, क्योंकि मनुष्य की रचना उदात्तता के लिए ही हुई है। इस प्रथम खंड के सारे साधारण एवं अनाम पात्र कोई बड़ा कार्य नहीं करते परन्तु रोज का तपता हुआ जीवन जीते हैं। यह साधारण उदात्तता प्रकारान्तर से हमें भी पूर्ण बनाती है। दूसरे खंड में जब परिवेश का दबाव और अधिक गहराएगा तब मानवीय विवशता तथा व्यवहार के जल का परिवृत्त और भी सुदूर के तटों तक लहराएगा। यह शती मनुष्य की परीक्षा की शती रही है जिसमें अनाम लोगों की साधारणता, विश्वास खंडित एवं क्षत-विक्षत हुए हैं। इस मानवीय जय-पराजय की गाथा से बड़ी कौन-सी भागवत है?
