Originally serialised in Mathrubhumi Illustrated Weekly, it was published as a book by Current Books in 1976. It tells the story of a Nambudiri woman, who is drawn into the struggle for social and political emancipation but cannot easily shake off the chains of tradition that bind her. The novel was concerned with implied criticism of aspects of social structure and behaviour. Thethikutty (Devaki or Sumitarananda) is married to Unni Nambudiri of the well-known Brahmin family named Manampilly Illam. He is young, virtuous, and loving but too orthodox to be the husband of a woman with Thethikutty's views. Feeling frustrated, Thethikutty leaves him once and forever and reaches her paternal home. Unni lives the life of a piety, is branded as an eccentric and dies. Thethikutty, meanwhile, finds no peace anywhere. At last, in the Himalayas, she meets her old friend and Unni's half-sister, the sixty-year-old Mrs K.M.K. Nair (Thankam). She finds her unborn son in Mrs. Nair's son and hands over her wedding pendant to her daughter with the request to cherish it with due regard.

- Description: ‘कोई एक सईदा’ किताब में नेहा दीक्षित ने एक साधारण और बेनाम भारतीय महिला की कहानी असाधारण ढंग से लिखी है। बाबरी मस्जिद ध्वंस के चलते हुए दंगों के बाद सईदा अपने छोटे बच्चों और पति के साथ बनारस को छोड़कर दिल्ली आ जाती है। एक ग़रीब विस्थापित मज़दूर के रूप में वह दिल्ली में अनेक कामों को आज़माती है—जींस के धागों की तुरपाई से लेकर नमकीन बनाने तक, बादामों से गिरी निकालने से लेकर चाय की छलनी बनाने तक—पचास से ज़्यादा काम, ताकि उसकी घरेलू ज़रूरतें पूरी होती रहें। ऐसे काम जिनमें एक दिन की छुट्टी लेने का मतलब है काम से हाथ धो बैठना। एक दशक के शोध और लगभग नौ सौ लोगों से साक्षात्कारों के बाद तैयार हुई इस किताब में हमें अनेक तरह के लोग मिलते हैं—चाँदनी चौक का एक रिक्शेवाला जिसकी ज़िन्दगी एक आतंकी हमले की भेंट चढ़ जाती है, एक डॉक्टर जिसे लिंग निर्धारण टेस्ट के लिए गिरफ़्तार किया जाता है, एक गोरक्षक जिसकी बहन सईदा के बेटे के साथ भाग जाती है और पुलिसवाले जिन्हें मुस्लिम युवकों को पीटने में बहुत ज़्यादा मज़ा आता है। दिल्ली में हुए 2020 के दंगों के साथ सईदा की ज़िन्दगी का जैसे एक चक्र पूरा हो जाता है। उसे फिर उखड़ना पड़ता है। लेकिन वह अब इसकी अभ्यस्त हो गई है। उसे पता है कि एक ग़रीब, एक मुस्लिम और एक औरत होने के नाते उसे क्या झेलना है। गहन अन्तर्दृष्टि से युक्त यह किताब उस कठोर, कड़वे यथार्थ की अक्कासी करती है जो भारत के अभिजात तबक़े की आँखों से बहुत दूर रहता है। यह उन लाखों लोगों की कहानी है जिनकी कहानी कभी नहीं कही जाती। यह ‘नये भारत’ के शहरी जीवन का ऐसा चित्र है जो किसी भी संवेदनशील मन को चीरकर रख देता है।

- Description: दीनदयालजी का व्यक्तित्व जितना सरल था, उनका जीवन उतना ही कठिन था। इसी प्रकार दीनदयालजी के विचारों को पढ़ना जितना सरल है, उन्हें समझना उतना ही कठिन है। जीवन का कोई ऐसा क्षेत्र नहीं है, जिसे उन्होंने अपने चिंतन के दायरे में शामिल न किया हो। सामाजिक विषयों से लेकर आर्थिक विषयों तक उन्होंने जितने आयामों के साथ उन्हें विश्लेषित किया है, वह अद्भुत है। यह उनके विचारों की शाश्वतता ही है कि उनके देहावसान के 48 वर्ष बीतने के बाद भी वे अप्रासंगिक नहीं हुए हैं। उनका ‘एकात्म मानववाद’ भारतीय संस्कृति का वह जयघोष है, जिसकी गूँज कभी समाप्त नहीं होगी। दीनदयालजी का अध्ययन क्षेत्र बहुत विस्तृत और विस्तीर्ण था। समाज-संस्कृति-राजनीति का शायद ही कोई विषय हो, जिस पर उनकी दृष्टि न गई हो। उनकी इसी दूरदृष्टि और चिंतन ने कोटि-कोटि कार्यकर्ताओं का पथ-प्रशस्त किया है। वर्तमान में केंद्र और कई प्रदेशों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी का शासन है। वे सब दीनदयालजी के चिंतन को व्यवहार रूप देकर राष्ट्र-निर्माण के काम में संलग्न हैं। विगत 13 वर्षों से डॉ. रमन सिंह के कुशल नेतृत्व और मार्गदर्शन में छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार प्राणपण से विकास-कार्यों में जुटी है। दीनदयालजी के कथनानुसार प्रदेश के आमजन तक शासन की सुविधाओं का लाभ पहुँचे, यह स्पष्ट दृष्टिगोचर होता है। इस पुस्तक में दीनदयालजी के स्वप्न को पूरा करने में छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार कितना प्रभावी काम कर रही है, यही दर्शाया गया है। पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के स्वप्नों को साकार करने की सफलता की कहानी है यह पुस्तक।
