- Description: पत्र अन्त:करण की ओर खुलने वाली खिड़कियाँ होते हैं। उनसे किसी व्यक्ति के जीवन और संसार के उस हिस्से का साक्षात्कार होता है जो उसके इतर जाहिर जीवन-संसार की ओट में रह गया होता है। इस तरह वे अज्ञात-अलक्षित को उद्घाटित करने का जरिया बनते हैं जो सम्बद्ध व्यक्ति के व्यक्तित्व और कृतित्व को समग्रता में समझने में सहायक होता है। ‘संन्यासी के नाम पत्र’ ऐसी ही एक पुस्तक है जिसके केन्द्र में हैं फ़ादर कामिल बुल्के। समर्पित मिशनरी और रामकथा और तुलसीदास के मान्य विशेषज्ञ ही नहीं, अंगरेजी-हिन्दी शब्दकोश के प्रणेता के रूप में भी उनकी कीर्ति से प्राय: लोग परिचित होंगे, लेकिन एक पुत्र, एक भाई, एक शिष्य और एक मित्र के रूप में उनके व्यक्तित्व की विशिष्टता से अधिकतर लोगों का परिचय नहीं होगा। कारण, भारत भूमि पर फ़ादर का आगमन ही तब हुआ जब वे मिशनरी हो चुके थे और उसके लिए आवश्यक नियम—परिवार से विदाई—का पालन कर चुके थे। यह संग्रह फ़ादर के संन्यासी बनने के बाद उनके परिजनों द्वारा उनको लिखे गए पत्रों का है जिसमें उनका पारिवारिक इतिहास और संन्यासी जीवन, दोनों के ऐसे प्रसंग सामने आते हैं जिनसे उनके दृढ़ और उदात्त व्यक्तित्व की झलक बार-बार मिलती है। इन पत्रों से यह भी पता चलता है कि फ़ादर के संन्यास ग्रहण करने का ‘दुख’ सहकर उनके परिवार ने किस प्रकार उनका सहयोग किया। जैसा कि उनकी माँ ने उन्हें सम्बोधित पत्र में लिखा है—हम लोगों के लिए जितना दुख मसीह ने उठाया था, उसकी तुलना में यह तो एक छोटी बात थी। (9 सितम्बर, 1931)
