‘तुकान्तक शब्दकोश'—तुक से अन्त होनेवाले शब्दों का संकलन। लय, स्वर और ताल के बिना जैसे संगीत निष्प्रभ है, वैसे ही तुक के बिना कविता नीरस है।
तुक से ही एक सामान्य वाक्य को कविता में ढाला जा सकता है। अभिव्यक्ति को प्रभावी बनाया जा सकता है।
परमानन्द चतुर्वेदी का यह तुकान्तक कोश उनके अनेक सालों के कड़े परिश्रम का परिणाम है। वर्ष 1964 से ही वह इस कोश की रचना-प्रक्रिया में जुट गए थे। कोश में तुक से अन्त होनेवाले अनेक शब्द संकलित किए गए हैं और उन्हें भी अकारान्त, आकारान्त, इकारान्त आदि क्रम में रखा गया है।
'तुक' की महत्ता का वर्णन करते हुए परमानन्द महाकवि भूषण के उस छन्द का ज़िक्र करते हैं जो उन्होंने छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज की प्रशंसा में अपने प्रथम मिलन के अवसर पर उन्हें सुनाया था—
“इन्द्र जिमि जंभ पर, बाडव सुअंभ पर, रावन सदंभ पर, रघुकुल राज है।
पौन बारिकाह पर, संभु रतिनाह पर, ज्यों सहस्रबाह पर रामद्विज राज है॥”
जंभ, अंभ तथा सदंभ आदि के तुकान्तक शब्दों ने, प्रभावी उपमाओं के योग से जो प्राण इस छन्द में फूँक दिए हैं, उन पर शिवाजी महाराज तक रीझे बिना न रह सके। कहते हैं शिवाजी महाराज ने यह छन्द भूषण से बार-बार सुना और प्रत्येक बार एक स्वर्ण-मुद्रा पारितोषिक रूप में प्रदान की।

The dictionary defines idiom as “a group of words whose meaning is different from the meaning of the individual words.” An idiom is a combination of words with figurative meanings.
