बीते सात वर्षों में हमारे देश में जो बड़ी घटनाएँ घटीं, उन्होंने न सिर्फ देश के लोगों का, बल्कि दुनिया का ध्यान भारत की ओर खींचा है। राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा और राजनीति से जुड़ी घटनाओं और तमाम हलचलों के दौर में शायद ही कोई ऐसा दिन गुजरा हो, जिसकी बात जनसामान्य ने अपनी दैनिक वार्त्ताओं में न की हो। इन घटनाओं में दुश्मन देश की क्रूरता भी दिखी तो देश के जाँबाज वीरों की वीरता भी; शूरवीरों के बलिदान ने देश को झकझोरा भी और बदले में हुई काररवाई ने गर्व करने के क्षण भी दिए।
पुलवामा में हमारी सेना के 40 जवानों पर हुए हमले ने देश को झकझोरकर रख दिया था। विंग कमांडर अभिनंदन की वापसी के लिए हर देशवासी प्रार्थना कर रहा था। देश की सीमाओं पर आए दिन पाकिस्तान की ओर से कोई कायराना हरकत की जाती थी और भारत की ओर से उसका कड़ा जवाब भी बराबर दिया जाता रहा है।
पुलवामा और उसके इर्द-गिर्द हुई घटनाओं के बाद भारत ने जवाबी काररवाई में बालाकोट में आतंकियों के बेस को नेस्तनाबूत कर दिया और उसके बाद जम्मू-कश्मीर को संवैधानिक राज्य का दर्जा देते हुए धारा 370 को हटाया। ये सभी वे बड़ी घटनाएँ थीं जिनकी उम्मीद देशवासियों को भारत सरकार से थी।

- Description: “धर्म को ग्रहणशील होना चाहिए और ईश्वर सम्बन्धी अपने विश्वासों में भिन्नता के कारण एक-दूसरे का तिरस्कार नहीं करना चाहिए। ईश्वर सम्बन्धी सभी सिद्धान्त मानव-सिद्धान्त के तहत आने चाहिए। और जब धर्म इतने उदार हो जाएँगे तो उनकी कल्याणकारी शक्ति सौ गुना हो जाएगी। धर्मों में अद्भुत शक्ति है लेकिन उनकी संकीर्णताओं के कारण उनसे लाभ की जगह हानि ज़्यादा हुई है।" ये शब्द स्वामी विवेकानन्द के हैं जो अपने एक अन्य लेख में यह भी कहते हैं कि, “लोग भारत के पुनरुद्धार के विषय में जो जी में आए कहें, मैं अपने अनुभव के बल पर कह सकता हूँ कि जब तक तुम सच्चे अर्थों में धार्मिक नहीं होते, भारत का उद्धार होना असम्भव है।” स्वामी विवेकानन्द भारत के ऐसे चिन्तक थे जिनके विषय में गुरुदेव रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर ने रोम्यां रोलां को लिखा था कि अगर आप भारत को जानना चाहते हैं तो सबसे पहले विवेकानन्द का अध्ययन कीजिए। धर्म और धार्मिक होने के सन्दर्भ में उन्हीं स्वामी विवेकानन्द के उपरोक्त दो कथन स्वयं घोषित करते हैं कि आज इक्कीसवीं सदी में वे हमारे लिए कितने उपयोगी और प्रासंगिक हैं। आज जब विचार को लेकर नहीं धर्मों के झंडों को लेकर दुनिया एक नए ध्रुवीकरण की दिशा में बढ़ रही है, हमें धार्मिक होने के सही मायने समझने की ज़रूरत है। सभी धर्म अलग-अलग समय और अलग-अलग जगहों पर उस स्थान और काल की समस्याओं से निजात पाने के प्रयासों के रूप में सामने आए, और अगर कालान्तर में चलकर वे व्यक्ति की इयत्ता का, उसकी पहचान का, उसके सामूहिक बोध और यहाँ तक कि राष्ट्रों तक का आधार बन गए तो इससे सिर्फ़ यह पता चलता है कि न तो कोई धर्म अपने आप में पूर्ण है और न ही व्यक्ति अभी इतना विकसित हुआ है कि वह धर्म के बिना अपना काम चला सके। कह सकते हैं कि हमें अभी सच्चे अर्थों में धार्मिक होना नहीं आया। धर्मों के सांसारिक-राजनीतिक दुरुपयोग की वजह भी यही है। ऐसे समय स्वामी विवेकानन्द के लेखों, भाषणों, कक्षालापों के इस प्रतिनिधि संचयन का प्रकाशन विशेष महत्त्व रखता है। आशा है कि इसके अध्ययन से हमें धर्म, नैतिकता, भक्ति, ईश्वर और हिन्दुत्व के सच्चे अर्थों तक पहुँचने में मदद मिलेगी।
