सामान्य दर्शक फिल्मों को सिर्फ मनोरंजक दृश्य माध्यम के रूप में देखता है, लेकिन शिवानी राकेश की इस किताब की मूल स्थापना ही यही है कि फिल्में सिर्फ देखी ही नहीं जातीं, बल्कि पढ़ी भी जाती हैं। रचनाकार ने कई विश्व स्तरीय सिने-सिद्धान्तकारों का उद्धरण देते हुए यह स्पष्ट किया है कि सिनेमा के इस ‘पाठ’ के लिए हमें फिल्मों को सामाजिक, राजनीतिक तथा आर्थिक अनुशासनों के बीच रखकर परखना होता है। यदि हम इतिहास की समझ के साथ इन फिल्मों को देखते हैं तो उन्हें नए नजरिये से देखने का मौका मिलता है। यह किताब हिन्दी सिनेमा की कई प्रमुख फिल्मों का विश्लेषण करते हुए उन्हें एक विमर्श के रूप में देखने का दृष्टिकोण देती है और यही इसकी सफलता है। लेखक ने भारतीय सिनेमा की अनेक फिल्मों का गहन विश्लेषण किया है। पुस्तक में अन्तर्वस्तु विश्लेषण पद्धति का उपयोग करते हुए कई चर्चित और कलात्मक रूप से उत्कृष्ट कही जाने वाली फिल्मों के पात्रों, कथानकों और संवादों का विस्तृत अध्ययन किया है। इस किताब में आप महिलाओं के मुद्दों पर बनी फिल्में, प्रवासी सिनेमा, युद्ध आपदा और दूसरे कई भिन्न विषयों पर आधारित फिल्मों के बारे में विस्तार से जान सकते हैं। भारतीय सिनेमा के इतिहास से लेकर सिनेमा में उठाए गए सामाजिक-राजनीतिक मुद्दों पर भी इस किताब में विस्तृत चर्चा की गई है। मुझे यकीन है कि यह किताब छात्रों और शोधकर्ताओं के लिए एक उपयोगी सन्दर्भ सामग्री के रूप में अपनी जगह बनाएगी।

- Description: अमीर खुसरो फरसी, अरबी, तुर्की, संस्कृत तथा हिंदी के विद्वान् थे। उनका मूल नाम अबुल हसन था। 'खुसरो' उनका उपनाम था, जो आगे चलकर इतना चर्चित हुआ कि लोग उनका असली नाम ही भूल गए |जलालुद्दीन खिलजी ने उनकी कविता से प्रसन्न होकर उन्हें 'अमीर' का खिताब दिया, तब से वे 'अमीर खुसरो' कहे जाने लगे । खुसरो ने दस वर्ष की उम्र में ही काव्य-रचना शुरू कर दी थी। उन्होंने दर्शन, धर्मशास्त्र, इतिहास, युद्धविद्या, व्याकरण, ज्योतिष, संगीत आदि का गहन अध्ययन किया। उनकी पुस्तक 'लैला मजनू' से पता चलता है कि उनकी एक पुत्री तथा तीन पुत्र थे। खुसरो में देशप्रेम कूट-कूटकर भरा था। उन्हें अपनी मातृभूति भारत पर बड़ा गर्व था। उन्होंने एक स्थान पर कहा है-'मैं हिंदुस्तान की तूती हूँ। अगर तुम वास्तव में मुझसे जानना चाहते हो तो हिंदवी में पूछो, मैं तुम्हें अनुपम बातें बता सकूँगा।' खुसरो ने कई लाख शेर लिखे । इनकी कृतियों की संख्या ९९ बताई जाती है, परंतु अभी तक ४५ कृतियों का ही पता चला है। अमीर खुसरो एक बहुत अच्छे गायक और संगीतशास्त्री भी थे। संगीत के वाद्य और गेय दोनों ही क्षेत्रों में इनका योगदान रहा है। कई भाषाओं के प्रकांड विद्वान् और आपसी सद्भाव के प्रतीक अमीर खुसरो के जीवन-प्रसंग और उनके रचनासंसार से परिचित करानेवाली अनुपम पुस्तक।
