- Description: ग़ुलामी के दौरान पंजाब पर अकल्पनीय अत्याचार के प्रतिवाद में रचित तथा ब्रिटिश शासन द्वारा प्रतिबन्धित और ज़ब्त रचनाएँ ‘जलियाँवाला बाग़ की कराहें’ पुस्तक जलियाँवाला बाग़ के नरसंहार की अतिशय वेदना और अंग्रेज़ी जुल्मों की व्यथा-कथा है जिसे हिन्दुस्तानियों ने अपनी आत्मा पर झेला, अपनी आँखों से देखा और साहित्यकारों ने अपनी क़लम से उकेरा। यह जनता का, जनता के द्वारा और जनता के लिए लिखा गया साहित्य है जो एक सदी तक अन्वेषकों की नज़रों से लगभग छिपा रहा। इन रचनाकारों ने अंग्रेज़ी राज की प्रताड़नाएँ सहते हुए औपनिवेशिक काल की त्रासद स्थितियों को कलमबद्ध किया। रचनाएँ मौखिक यात्रा करती हुईं जन-चेतना के उद्देश्य तक पहुँचती रहीं। पुस्तक में कुल नौ अध्याय हैं जिनमें जलियाँवाला बाग़ हत्याकांड के बाद रचित वे नाटक, कविताएँ, दोहे, ठुमरी, लावणी, क़व्वाली, ग़ज़ल आदि सम्मिलित हैं जो अलग-अलग पुस्तिकाओं में प्रकाशित हुईं। लगभग सभी विधाओं में रचित यह साहित्य जलियाँवाला बाग़ की पृष्ठभूमि से लेकर हर छोटी-बड़ी घटना, अंग्रेज़ों की क्रूरता, जुल्म और यातनाओं, लोगों की बेबसी, लाचारी, सामाजिक दशा-दुर्दशा का निर्भीक और वास्तविक विवरण प्रस्तुत करता है तो दूसरी तरफ़ साहस से उठ खड़े होने का आह्वान भी करता है। इनमें नृशंस हत्याओं के साथ-साथ हरे-भरे पेड़-पौधों की उखड़ी-जली छालों, घास चरती हुईं गाय-भैंसों का चरते-चरते मारे जाना, तोते, कोयल और मैना आदि पक्षियों तक का भी गोलियों से डरकर मरने का मार्मिक चित्रण है। इन रचनाओं की सत्यता पर कोई सन्देह इसलिए नहीं किया जा सकता कि आधिकारिक ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज़ों में भी किसी न किसी रूप में इनका ज़िक्र है और इतिहास की पुस्तकों में भी इन्हें प्राय: उसी रूप में अभिव्यक्त किया गया है।

- Description: ‘क्रान्तिवीर भगत सिंह : ‘अभ्युदय’ और ‘भविष्य’’ आज़ादी की लड़ाई, ख़ासकर इन्क़लाबी नौजवानों के संघर्ष की हक़ीक़त तलाशती कोशिश का नतीजा है। पुस्तक में शामिल पत्रिकाओं ‘अभ्युदय’ और ‘भविष्य’ की सामग्री हिन्दुस्तान की आज़ादी के संग्राम को ठीक से समझने के लिए बेहद ज़रूरी है। ‘अभ्युदय’ ने भगत सिंह के मुक़दमे और फाँसी के हालात पर भरपूर सामग्री छापी और 8 मई, 1931 को प्रकाशित उसका ‘भगत सिंह विशेषांक’ ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा ज़ब्त कर लिया गया। भगत सिंह के जीवन, व्यक्तित्व और परिवार को लेकर जो सामग्री ‘अभ्युदय’ व ‘भविष्य’ में छापी गई—विशेषतः भगत सिंह व उनके परिवार के चित्र—उसी से पूरे देश में भगत सिंह की विशेष छवि निर्मित हुई। ‘भविष्य’ साप्ताहिक इलाहाबाद से रामरख सिंह सहगल के सम्पादन में निकलता था। पहले पं. सुन्दरलाल के सम्पादन में ‘भविष्य’ निकलता था, जिसमें रामरख सिंह सहगल काम करते थे। 2 अक्टूबर, 1930 को गांधी जयन्ती पर रामरख सिंह सहगल ने, जो स्वयं युक्तप्रान्त कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति के सदस्य थे, ‘भविष्य’ साप्ताहिक का प्रकाशन शुरू किया। पहले अंक से ही भगत सिंह आदि पर सामग्री प्रकाशित कर, ‘भविष्य’ ने सनसनी फैला दी। ‘भविष्य’ में भगत सिंह की फाँसी के बाद के हालात का जीवन्त चित्रण हुआ है। ‘भविष्य’ और ‘अभ्युदय’ से कुछ चुनिन्दा चित्र इस किताब में शामिल किए गए हैं। सम्पादक प्रो. चमन लाल ने विलुप्तप्राय तथ्यों को इस पुस्तक में सँजोकर ऐतिहासिक कार्य किया है। वस्तुतः इस इन्क़लाबी वृत्तान्त को पढ़ना स्वतंत्रता की अदम्य जिजीविषा से साक्षात्कार करना है।

- Description: भारतीय स्वाधीनता-आन्दोलन में बिना किसी प्रकार की सुयश-प्राप्ति की कामना किए हँसते-हँसते फाँसी के तख़्ते पर झूल जानेवाले मृत्युंजयी वीरों के बलिदान का सर्वाधिक महत्त्व रहा है। उन वीरों को जितनी प्रतिष्ठा और सम्मान प्राप्त होना चाहिए था, उसकी उपेक्षा एवं अवहेलना सत्ता-लोलुप स्वार्थियों ने सदैव ही की है। यदि उन वीरों की नि:स्वार्थ मातृ-भूमि-सेवा का अनुकरण किया गया होता तो भारतीय जनता आज स्वर्ग-सुख का उपभोग निस्सन्देह करती होती। पराधीनता के समय जो भी क्रान्तिकारी साहित्य उपलब्ध था उसे भारतीय युवक बड़े उत्साह से पढ़ते थे; इसीलिए तत्कालीन युवकों में देश के प्रति नि:स्वार्थ सेवा की सच्ची लगन थी। आज भारतीय जनता, विशेषतः युवकों में सुषुप्त त्याग और सेवा की भावना को जाग्रत करने के लिए उन क्रान्तिकारी वीरों के इतिहास के पठन-पाठन की अत्यधिक आवश्यकता है। भारतीय क्रान्तिकारियों के सम्बन्ध में अभी तक बहुत कम लिखा गया है। इन क्रान्तिकारियों के सम्बन्ध में पुस्तक लिखने का कार्य अत्यन्त कठिन है क्योंकि सभी क्रान्तिकारी अपने कार्य-कलापों को एकदम गुप्त रखते थे, उनके निकटतम सहयोगी भी उनकी बहुत सी बातों से अपरिचित रहते थे। प्रस्तुत पुस्तक अमर शहीद स्व. चन्द्रशेखर आज़ाद और भगवतीचरण बोहरा के अत्यन्त विश्वासपात्र, क्रान्तिकारी आन्दोलन में निरन्तर कार्य करनेवाले भाई सुखदेव राज जी ने लिखी है। अस्तु, पुस्तक की उपादेयता निर्विवाद है।

- Description: अने फ़्रांक की लिखी 'एक किशोरी की डायरी' विश्व की श्रेष्ठ कृतियों में गिनी जाती है। जर्मनी में जन्मी अने ने यह ‘डायरी’ 1942 से 1944 के दौरान लिखी। इसमें युद्ध के बाद जर्मन क़ब्ज़े के दौरान डच लोगों की पीड़ा का आँखों-देखा विवरण है। एक 15 वर्षीय किशोरी ने समाज की उथल-पुथल और अपने मन की कशमकश को बहुत ही ईमानदारी से व्यक्त किया है। जन्मदिन के उपहार स्वरूप मिली एक डायरी को जिस समय उन्होंने अपना सच्चा मित्र बनाया था, उस समय ख़ुद उन्होंने भी कल्पना नहीं की होगी कि एक दिन यह डायरी विश्व की महानतम कृतियों में शुमार होगी। डायरी की प्रविष्टियों में जहाँ स्कूल की बातें हैं, तो सहेलियों की ईर्ष्या, मनपसन्द खिलौनों की चाह, छुट्टियों में बिताए समय के साथ देश में तेज़ी से बदलते हालात का भी वर्णन है। कैसे जर्मनी में रहनेवाले यहूदियों की ज़िन्दगी एक सनक-भर से जहन्नुम हो गई थी, लेकिन जीने की उत्कट इच्छा आख़िरी समय तक भी हार मानने को तैयार नहीं हुई। अने का बाल-मन कहीं न कहीं मानता है कि एक दिन सब सही हो जाएगा और वो वापस अपने परिवार के साथ एक सामान्य जीवन जी पाएगी। एक किशोरी की यह मार्मिक डायरी सिर्फ़ उसी की न रहकर सीधे पाठक के दिल में घर कर जाती है।
