- Description: यह अद्यतन कोश है और इसमें अंग्रेज़ी के उन सभी शब्दों तथा पदबंधों का संकलन किया गया है जो जीवन के विविध क्षेत्रों से संबद्ध हैं तथा विद्यार्थियों- अध्यापकों, लेखकों- अनुवादकों, संपादकों-पत्रकारों, अधिकारियों-कर्मचारियों आदि को जिनके हिंदी समानार्थी जानने की नित्य आवश्यकता होती है । अंग्रेज़ी के सभी शब्दों को अक्षरक्रम से रखा गया है । अन्य प्रमुख अंग्रेज़ी-हिंदी कोशों में विकारी शब्दों तथा समस्त पदों को मूल शब्द के अंतर्गत अर्थात् पेटे में रखा गया है, परंतु इस कोश में ऐसे शब्दों की स्वतंत्र प्रविष्टियाँ हैं । आशा है, इससे पाठकों को विभिन्न शब्दों तक पहुँचने में सुगमता होगी । अनियमित क्रियाओं के भूतकालिक, भूतकृदंत तथा वर्तमानकालिक कृदंत रूप भी दिए गए हैं । प्राय : विशेषणों के उत्तरावस्था और उत्तमावस्था कें विशिष्ट रूप भी दिए गए हैं । शब्दों का उच्चारण अधिक सुगमतापूर्वक तथा व्यवस्थित ढंग से किया जा सके, इसके लिए शब्दों को अक्षरों (syllables) में विभाजित किया गया है और उन्हें योजिका (hyphen) से अलग- अलग करके दिखलाया भी गया है । शब्द के जिस अक्षर पर बलाघात है उसपर चिह्न भी लगाया गया है । आवश्यकता प्रतीत होने पर शब्दों के ब्रितानवी और अमेरिकी दोनो प्रकार के उच्चारण भी दिए गए हैं । हर शब्द के अर्थ अंग्रेज़ी और हिंदी दोनो भाषाओं में दिए गए हैं । चष्टा रही है कि अंग्रेजी अर्थ की प्रमुख विवक्षा हिंदी समानार्थी से स्पष्ट रूप से परिलक्षित हो । पदबंधों और मुहावरों की व्याख्या करते समय उनके अर्थ-सौष्ठव को यथावत् प्रतिबिंबित करने का प्रयास भी किया गया है । इस कोश में भारत सरकार द्वारा स्थिर किए हुए विधि, प्रशासन, न्याय, प्रौद्योगिकी तथा विभिन्न शास्त्रों और विज्ञानों के शब्दों को प्रमुखता दी गई है । उच्चारण-तालिका अन्यत्र दी गई है । इसमें अंग्रेज़ी की कुछ विशिष्ट ध्वनियों के लिए अंतरराष्ट्रीय संकेत चिह्नों के आधार पर कुछ हिंदी वर्णो में विशेष चिह्न जोड़े गए हैं । आशा है, पाठकों को इससे सही उच्चारण करने में सुविधा होगी ।
