<p>भारत का राष्ट्रीय वृक्ष बरगद है। यह ओड़िसा का राज्य वृक्ष भी है। लगभग ऐसी ही स्थिति पीपल और हुलुंग की है। पीपल को बिहार और हरियाणा दोनों ने अपना राज्य वृक्ष घोषित किया है। हुलुंग विश्व-भर में होलांग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। हुलुंग को अरुणाचल प्रदेश और असम दोनों ने अपना राज्य वृक्ष माना है।</p>
<p>प्रत्येक वृक्ष के परिचय में वृक्ष का हिन्दी नाम, अंग्रेज़ी नाम और वैज्ञानिक नाम दिया गया है।</p>
<p>पुस्तक का उद्देश्य वृक्षों से सम्बन्धित भ्रामक धारणाओं का खंडन करते हुए वैज्ञानिक जानकारियाँ प्रदान करना और इनके महत्त्व एवं उपयोग से परिचित कराना है।</p>
