लंबे समय के बाद समर्थ गुरु की भेंट छत्रपति शिवाजी से हुई। दोनों ने मिलकर स्वराज की स्थापना का बीड़ा उठाया, जिसमें वे सफल रहे। समर्थ गुरु के मार्गदर्शन एवं निर्देशन में छत्रपति शिवाजी मराठा साम्राज्य की स्थापना एवं उसकी नींव मजबूत करने में सफल रहे। बिना गुरु के ज्ञान नहीं होता है, गुरु ही सच्चा मार्गदर्शक होता है और वह गुरु समर्थ रामदास जैसा हो तो निस्संदेह शिवा का ही जन्म होता है। वह शिवा जो राष्ट्र का गौरव है, रक्षक है, मार्ग-प्रदर्शक है।
