वर्तमान सामाजिक और राजनैतिक माहौल में हम अपने इतिहास को नजरअंदाज करने लगे हैं। आज निचले वर्ग केपाठ्यक्रम में भी इतिहास एक स्वतंत्र विषय के रूप में नहीं रह गया। उसे सामाजिक विज्ञान का एक छोटा सा अंश बना दिया गया है। फलतः छात्रों को अपने देश के इतिहास से पूरा परिचय नहीं हो पाता। वे अपने पूर्वजों की आन, बान और शान से, उनके त्याग व बलिदान से उनकी शूरता एवं वीरता से परिचित नहीं हो पा रहे हैं। उनमें राष्ट्रीयता की भावना का लोप होने लगा है। यह स्थिति चिंताजनक है। सरकार, शिक्षक सबका दायित्व है कि वे छात्रों में इतिहास प्रेम जगाने का प्रयास करें। भारतीय इतिहास की यह पुस्तक मैंने इसी भावना से प्रेरित होकर लिखी है। मैंने इसमें मुख्य रूप से मुगलकालीन एवं ब्रिटिशकालीन भारत की राजनैतिक, सामाजिक, धार्मिक, आर्थिक और सांस्कृतिक दशाओं पर प्रकाश डालने का एक छोटा सा प्रयास किया है। मैंने छात्रों को यह बताने का प्रयास किया है कि हमारे इतिहास ने कहाँ-कहाँ चूक की है, जिसका लाभ उठाकर विदेशियों ने कितनी बार हमारे सोने की चिडि़या के पर कुतरने की कोशिश की है। फिर भी हम अपनी अस्मिता को बचाए रखे हैं। पुस्तक की सफलता या विफलता तो पाठकों के निर्णय पर है।

कहा जाता है कि किसी भी भाषा के अध्ययन के लिए उस भाषा का कोश अनिवार्य है। यह कोश उन सभी की आवश्यकता को पूरा करता है जो पालि पढ़ने में रुचि रखते हैं। यह ‘पालि-हिन्दी कोश’ पालि भाषा, हिन्दी भाषा तथा बौद्ध साहित्य के अन्तरराष्ट्रीय ख्यातिप्राप्त अधिकारी विद्वान द्वारा लिखा गया है। इससे हिन्दी, मराठी, और अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं के छात्र, अध्यापक निश्चित रूप से लाभान्वित होंगे। यह भारतीय भाषाओं में पालि-हिन्दी का अपने ढंग का एकमात्र कोश है।

- Description: सन 1947 तक गैर-लड़ाकू करार दिए गए और भारतीय सेना में योद्धाओं के रूप में शामिल होने से वंचित अदर इंडियन क्लासिक्स (ओ.आई.सी. ), घुड़सवार सेना के सी स्क्वाड्रन का हिस्सा थे। महत्त्वाकांक्षी पीटी-76 उभयचर टैंकों से सुसज्जित होने के कारण उन्हें पूर्वी पाकिस्तान से आनेवाले खतरे का मुकाबला करने के लिए महत्त्वपूर्ण बोयरा इलाके के पास कबोदक नदी को पार करने का निर्देश दिया गया। 21 नवंबर, 1971 को पाकिस्तानी सेना के जो उम्दा फौजी थे और डींगें हाँकते थे कि एक पाकिस्तानी सैनिक तीन भारतीय सैनिकों के बराबर है, गरीबपुर में उनका टैंक बनाम टैंक के मुकाबले से पाला पड़ा। एक ही झटके में चौदह अमेरिकी एम-24 चाफी टैंक वाली तीन (अलग-अलग) बख्तरबंद स्क्वाड्रन पूरी तरह तबाह कर दी गईं और पैदल सैनिकों की दो बटालियन बुरी तरह रौंद दी गईं। वहीं दो पीटी-76 टैंकों के नुकसान के बदले तीन साब्रे एफ-86 जेट मार गिराए गए। भारतीयों और मुक्ति वाहिनी को सबक सिखाने के लिए जनरल एएके नियाजी ने जिस सबसे बड़े हमले की योजना बनाई थी, वह धुआँ-धुआँ हो गई । 45वीं घुड़सवार सेना ने भारतीय इतिहास में एक नया अध्याय लिख दिया था। 300 से 700 मीटर के इलाके में लड़ी गई लड़ाई ने एक स्क्वाड्रन के हाथों दूसरी स्क्वाड्रन की पूरी तबाही की एक अद्भुत मिसाल कायम की। इसने अजेय होने के पाकिस्तानी भ्रम को तोड़ दिया और जनरल याहया खान समेत उनके जनरलों की मंडली में खलबली मचा दी । सातवाँ बेड़ा जब तक बंगाल की खाड़ी में दाखिल होता, तब तक पाकिस्तान के 93,000 सैनिक मित्र वाहिनी (भारत-बांग्लादेश की संयुक्त सेना) के आगे आत्मसमर्पण कर चुके थे, और बांग्लादेश आजाद हो चुका था।
