This novel takes the confused state of mind of the characters—beginning with Vasudev Devaki, Akroor, Uddhav, and Radha— to an unprecedented height, when Krishna dissolved.

वेद सनातनविद्या के काव्यात्मक प्रतिपादन हैं। ऋग्वेद संहिता के अनुवाद एवं व्याख्या का प्रयास अनेक भाषाओं में समय-समय पर होता रहा है, किन्तु अभी तक उपलब्ध सभी अनुवादों में काव्यपक्ष की उपेक्षा अथवा पद्यानुवाद की प्रस्तुति के असम्भव प्रयास ही किए गए हैं जो ऋचाओं के साथ पूरा न्याय नहीं करते हैं। वेदों में भावों की सनातनता एक व्यापक ध्वनि के रूप में सूक्तों, संवादों और आख्यानों में विद्यमान है। प्रस्तुत अनुवाद में पादानुसारी किन्तु भावपरक अनुवाद पर विशेष आग्रह सोद्देश्य है ताकि ऋचाओं की काव्यात्मकता का यथासम्भव सम्प्रेषण एवं मूल की अर्थयोजना का क्रम अनुवाद में सुरक्षित रहे।

भाषान्तर में व्याख्या का सूक्ष्म प्रकार अनिवार्य होता है और वही अनुवाद का वर्तमान और अतीत के मध्य संवाद बनाकर बहुत कुछ को परम्परा में जीवित तथा प्रगतिशील रखता है। अतः ग्रन्‍थ में अनुवाद के लिए उपयुक्त भाषा, पुरातन ध्वनि बहुलता और समसामयिक सजीवता के संरक्षण की दृष्टि से तत्सम, तद्भव एवं देशी शब्दों के समन्वित प्रयोग किए गए हैं। साथ ही, गम्‍भीर और बहुमुखी अर्थों को स्पष्ट करने के लिए क्रियापदों के अनुवाद, दुरूह पदों के अर्थनिर्वचन में धातुपाठ, निरुक्त की पद्धति एवं आधुनिक तथा तुलनात्मक व्याकरण के अनुसरण से सहायता ली गई है।

This might come as a surprise to many readers. But, this is indeed the very first book on Magh Mela. As of now, the only book relevant to Magh Mela that is available in the market is a reproduction of the chapter on Magh Mahatmaya appearing in Padma Purana. But, that is purely mythological in content and does not deal with many aspects of the Magh Mela as it plays out in Allahabad. Everybody has heard of Kumbh Mela. But, how many of us have heard of Magh Mela? Does it surprise you to learn that Kumbh Mela is nothing but Magh Mela that is celebrated every twelfth year and Ardh Kumbh is nothing but the sixth Magh Mela celebrated between two Kumbh Melas? In other words, a mini version of the Kumbh Mela is celebrated in Allahabad year after year in the form of Magh Mela which goes almost unnoticed and unreported outside of Allahabad and Uttar Pradesh. Magh Mela is an incredible annual phenomenon in Allahabad (Prayag) from time immemorial. It is a monthlong Hindu festival that is celebrated in the month of Magh at Sangam or the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical river Saraswati. Magh Mela is marked by (snan) ritual bathing and taking up temporary residence near Sangam in the month Magh and leading an austere life devoted to prayers and rituals (kalpavas) according to their vows. The month of Magh begins with Paush Purnima and ends with Magh Purnima. But, the Magh Mela begins on Makkar Sankranti or Paush Purnima (whichever is earlier) and ends with Maha Shivaratri because of administrative reasons. Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity of Allahabad as well as the month of Magh which is considered to be the most auspicious month for Hindus. Allahabad is also known as Tirthraj Prayag. In other words, Allahabad is the king of pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Separate chapters are devoted to the most auspicious months of the Hindu calendar in the Puranas in the form of Vaishak Mahatmaya, Kartik Mahatmaya and Magh Mahatmaya explaining the significance of each month. The most important ritual for Vaishak is charity (daan). Similarly, the main ritual for Kartik is offerings in the form of earthen lamps (deep daan); and, the main ritual for Magh is ritual bathing (snan). Therefore, Magh Mela is essentially a bathing festival coupled with kalpavas. And, Tirthraj Prayag is the sacred land that has been designated for Magh Mela by Hindu scriptures. That is the secret of Magh Mela.

DHARMA and RELIGION are altogether different conceptions. Even as per the Oxford dictionary, ‘DHARMA’ means “eternal law of Universe” whereas ‘RELIGION’ means “a particular way of worship and faith.” All of these rules, laws etc. [pertaining to Dharma] have been observed, understood and realised by the people known as Hindu and hence Dharma is known as Hindu Dharma. However, these rules-laws etc. are applicable to every human being (Manav) all over the world (Vishwa), not confined only to Hindus. Hence, Hindu Dharma is Manav Dharma or Vishwa Dharma – the global ethics applicable to the entire humankind. If we look at the things which are considered as very sacred/pious in Hindu Dharma, it can be seen that each one of them possesses special qualities which are quite unique and useful for humankind. अभ्यास के उपर्युक्त क्रम में कर्म तथा कर्मफल में अनासक्ति का भाव, जगत के सुख-दुःखादि द्वंदों में समभाव, सभी जीवों में परमात्मा रूप से स्थित 'आत्मा' के एकत्व का भाव, सतत् आनन्ददायक परम सत्ता में प्रेम का भाव तथा उच्चतम आध्यात्मिक उत्कर्ष हेतु आवश्यक अन्यान्य मानवीय कल्याणकारी मूलभूत भावों व गुणों का अन्तःकरण में प्रादुर्भाव ईश्वर की अहैतुकी कृपा से सहज ही हो जाता है। इस प्रकार से प्राप्त लौकिक तथा पारलौकिक दिव्यता के प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव की अभिव्यक्ति सम्पूर्णता से वाणी द्वारा व्यक्त करना कठिन है।
