प्रस्तुत उपन्यास में सुशीतल चटर्जी और अल्का नायर का प्रेम है जो सुशीतल के संयमित और प्रतिज्ञाबद्ध विद्यार्थी जीवन से आरम्भ होकर सुशीतल के पक्के जुआरी और शराबी होने तक जाता है, और दूसरी तरफ़ अल्का के एक मान की ऊँची छवि में स्थापित होने तक जो सुशीतल की दूसरी पत्नी से हुए बेटे की पढाई पर अपने जमा पैसे बिना हिचक खर्च कर देती है। दूसरा चरण सरपति राय के ख़ानदान का क़िस्सा है जो पुनः स्त्री-पुरुष सम्बन्ध के झोंकों में ही झूल जाता है। तीसरे उपन्यास में कुसमिया है—एक ईमानदार और सेवा-भाव से सम्पन्न सेविका जिसे अन्त में अपनी मालकिन के बेटे के ख़ून के इल्ज़ाम में फाँसी की सज़ा होती है।
‘विषय नर-नारी’ में बिमल मित्र ने जैसे लेखक होने की अपनी पहचान को भी बार-बार रेखांकित किया और जिया है। स्वतंत्र रूप से लेखन को ही अपना जीवन-ध्येय बनानेवाले उस ज़माने के ऐसे लेखकों की रचनाएँ स्वयं लेखन की प्रतिष्ठा हैं जिससे जनसाधारण पाठक के रूप में एक सजीव उपस्थिति की तरह जुड़ा रहता था। इस लिहाज़ से भी साहित्य की थाती में सुरक्षित ऐसी रचनाओं को
पढ़ा जाना चाहिए।

As the Law Minister of the country, he prepare Hindu Code Bill, to paved the way for women’s empowerment and the right of women to inherit ancestral property. This book is an attempt to bring to light the nationalist thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and protray his contribution to the development of the nation.
