“अरे। यह आप क्या कर रहे हैं ? छोड़िए मेरा पैर !”” डिप्टी साहब चिहुँकते हुए पीछे हटे, मगर इस बात का पूरा ध्यान रखा कि उनका पैर छूटने न पाए। जानते थे कि शिकार जितनी ज्यादा देर चरणों में लोटेगा, उतनी ही ज्यादा टेंट ढीली करेगा।
प्रधानाध्यापक की कमाई का आधा हिस्सा पूरी ईमानदारी से प्रधान गुड्डू ठाकुर के पास पहुँचता था। उनका लड़का विक्की ठाकुर इसी पाठशाला का होनहार छात्र था। भविष्य में सरकार कहीं चुनाव लड़ने के लिए शिक्षित होना अनिवार्य न कर दे, बस इसी इकलौते उद्देश्य से वह अपना अमूल्य समय स्कूलों में बर्बाद कर रहे थे, वरना उनमें योग्यता की कोई कमी न थी।
प्रधानाध्यापक को डिप्टी साहब के चरणों में लोटते देख उनसे बर्दाश्त नहीं हुआ। वे नट्टी फाड़ चीख पड़े--“'मास्सा '“ब, नाम है आपका परशुराम और काम कर रहे हैं सुदामा जैसा ? यह भ्रष्टाचारी आपसे रिश्वत माँग रहा है। चरणों में लोटने के बजाय उठाइए अपना फरसा और नाश कर दीजिए धरती से इन भ्रष्टाचारियों का।'!
