- Description: फल प्रकृति द्वारा इनसान को दिए गए अनुपम वरदान हैं। ये कभी ताज़े, कभी पकाकर और कभी सुखाकर खाए जाते हैं। ये क्षुधा शान्त करते हैं, तृप्ति प्रदान करते हैं। मीठी सुगन्ध और उन्नत स्वाद वाले फल चित्त को आह्लादित करते हैं। स्वस्थ शरीर के संचालन के लिए जिन प्राकृतिक तत्त्वों की ज़रूरत है, वे हमें फलों से मिलते रहते हैं। इनके द्वारा कैल्शियम, लोहा, ताम्र, फॉस्फ़ोरस आदि खनिज लवण, चिकनाई और विटामिनों की शरीर में आपूर्ति होती रहती है। फलों को रुग्णावस्था में पथ्य रूप में खिलाया जाता है। कुछ रोगों के निवारण के लिए चिकित्सक मुख्य रूप से फलों का सेवन कराते हैं। पैंसठ फलों का 39 रंगीन तथा 103 सादे चित्रों के साथ इस पुस्तक में परिचय दिया गया है। उनका स्वरूप, प्राप्ति-स्थान, विविध भाषाओं में उनके नाम, उनकी खेती, उनका रासायनिक संघटन, उनके गुण और उनकी पौष्टिक उपादेयता का प्रतिपादन किया गया है। ताज़ा खाए जानेवाले लोकप्रिय फल इसमें सम्मिलित किए गए हैं जैसे—आम, अमरूद, अंगूर, चीकू, नासपाती, केला, पपीता, लीची, सन्तरा, ख़रबूजा, तरबूज़ आदि; पहाड़ी इलाक़ों में पैदा होनेवाले फल खुमानी, सेब, आड़ई, आलूबुखारा, बगूगोशा, चेरी, स्ट्रॉबेरी, आदि; बाहर के देशों से भारत में सम्प्रविष्ट किए गए फल जैसे—कीवी, एवाकाडो, दुरियन, राम्बुतान; सूखे मेवे (ड्राई फ्रूट्स), जैसे—काजू, बादाम,अख़रोट, पिस्ता, चिलगोज़ा, किशमिश आदि।
