साहित्य में ‘मंज़रनामा’ एक मुकम्मिल फ़ार्म है। यह एक ऐसी विधा है जिसे</p> <p>पाठक बिना किसी रुकावट के रचना का मूल आस्वाद लेते हुए पढ़ सकें। लेकिन मंज़रनामा का अन्दाज़े-बयाँ अमूमन मूल रचना से अलग हो जाता है या यूँ कहें कि वह मूल रचना का इंटरप्रेटेशन हो जाता है।</p> <p>मंज़रनामा पेश करने का एक उद्देश्य तो यह है कि पाठक इस फ़ार्म से रू-ब-रू हो सकें और दूसरा यह कि टी.वी. और सिनेमा में दिलचस्पी रखनेवाले लोग यह देख-जान सकें कि किसी कृति को किस तरह मंज़रनामे की शक्ल दी जाती है। टी.वी. की आमद से मंज़रनामों की ज़रूरत में बहुत इज़ाफ़ा हो गया है।</p> <p>‘किनारा’ प्यार के अन्तर्द्वन्द्व की कहानी है। जो संयोगों और दुर्योगों के बीच से होकर जाती है। एक तरफ़ प्यार की वफ़ादारी है जो दिवंगत प्रेमी की स्मृतियों से भी दगा नहीं करना चाहती और दूसरी तरफ़ नए प्यार का अटूट समर्पण है जो एक दुर्घटना के गिल्ट को धोने के लिए अपना सब कुछ हारने को तैयार है। लेकिन नियति अपने लिखित को जब तक उसका एक-एक हर्फ़ सच न हो जाए, अन्त तक उनके बीच बैठी बाँचती रहती है। पीड़ा के अपने चरम पर पहुँच जाने तक। गुलज़ार की फ़िल्में इतने स्वाभाविक ढंग से फ़ार्मूला-मुक्त होती हैं कि हम लोग जो साहित्य में भी फ़ार्मूलों के अभ्यस्त रहे हैं और फ़िल्मों में भी उनकी कथा-योजना को देख हैरान-से रह जाते हैं। फ़िल्म ‘किनारा’ और उसकी कहानी भी ऐसी ही है।

- Description: When I met Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India on the 26th of March 2015, my enthusiasm for music was at its lowest ebb. During our conversation, Modiji was intrigued by my dream project, 'Sangeet Gram', an academy in the memory of Ustad Bismillah Khan. ‘विषय नर-नारी’ में बिमल मित्र ने जैसे लेखक होने की अपनी पहचान को भी बार-बार रेखांकित किया और जिया है। स्वतंत्र रूप से लेखन को ही अपना जीवन-ध्येय बनानेवाले उस ज़माने के ऐसे लेखकों की रचनाएँ स्वयं लेखन की प्रतिष्ठा हैं जिससे जनसाधारण पाठक के रूप में एक सजीव उपस्थिति की तरह जुड़ा रहता था। इस लिहाज़ से भी साहित्य की थाती में सुरक्षित ऐसी रचनाओं को

- Description: 1951 की एक सुबह उर्दू के मशहूर शायर फ़ैज़ अहमद फ़ैज़ के घर पर छापा पड़ा और उन्हें रावलपिंडी साज़िश केस में उनके घर से गिरफ़्तार किया गया। घर से ले जाते वक़्त उन्हें कपड़े तक बदलने की मोहलत नहीं दी गई। फ़ैज़ के परिवार पर ये एक मुसीबत के दौर का आग़ाज़ था। उनकी पत्नी एलिस के अलावा उनकी दो लड़कियाँ मुनीज़ा और सलीमा भी अब लाहौर में अकेली रह गई थीं। मगर इस मुसीबत का सामना फ़ैज़ और एलिस ने जिस बहादुरी और हिम्मत से किया और अपने आपसी प्रेम को इस हिज्र और फ़ासले में और गहरा करते हुए, अपनी मोहब्बत के धारे को दुखी इनसानों के दर्दो ग़म को समझने की तरफ़ जिस तरह मोड़ा, ये बात इन ख़तों को पढ़ने से पता चलती है। इन ख़तों में जहाँ एक तरफ़ फ़ैज़ की बे-परवा, आज़ाद और शायराना फ़ितरत का पता मिलता है, वहीं एलिस के जज़्बे, याद के दुःख और राज्य से सीधे टकरा जाने का जज़्बा भी साफ़ दिखाई देता है। हम इन ख़तों को पढ़ कर ही जान पाते हैं कि अगर ये हादसा फ़ैज़ की ज़िन्दगी में न गुज़रा होता तो हम फ़ैज़ की उस बाग़ी शायरी से शायद महरूम रहते जिसने उनसे इनसान की उस हिम्मत पर यादगार नज़्में और ग़ज़लें लिखवाईं, जिसे कोई भी रियासत, कैसी भी सियासत क़ैद में डाल कर फ़ना नहीं कर सकती। उसकी आवाज़ को रोकना ना-मुमकिन है, जैसा कि फ़ैज़ ने लिखा था— मता-ए-लौह-ओ-क़लम छिन गई तो क्या ग़म है कि ख़ून-ए-दिल में डुबो ली हैं उंगलियाँ मैंने ज़बाँ पे मुहर लगी है तो क्या कि रख दी है हर एक हल्क़ा-ए-ज़ंजीर में ज़बाँ मैंने

- Description: The outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020, afforded an opportunity, though in adversity, amidst our lives going topsy-turvy, and in forced solitude. I started writing regularly tracking the journey of COVID-19, its fall out and the transformation in our lives as a sequel and sharing on electronic media. Unconsciously my style of writing became prose in poetry, generally concluding with befitting couplets of Urdu poetry. | was buoyed by the inspiring comments of my friends, who genuinely prompted me to consoli- date my thoughts and take it to the next level. This is how exactly my book project took off. In my write-ups, I quite often venture into the coveted realms of great thinkers, philosophers, saints and Yogis, who have spent their lifetimes to understand the enigmatic human life, a beautiful gift of God, yet for average mortals like me, remains a labyrinth, a conundrum. Nevertheless I could peep into some aspects, and the veil did lift a bit, going through treasured writings of the extraordi- nary authors and exalted souls like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Paramhansa Yogananda, and Sri Aurobindo. Above all Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali, a collection of highly inspirational poems, devoted to the universal Lord, did leave an indelible imprint in my mind.
