‘द वल्र्ड ऐज आई सी इट’ (1934) पुस्तक की रचना प्रथम विश्वयुद्ध तथा हिटलर के सत्तारूढ़ होने के परिणामस्वरूप हुई थी, जिसमें आइंस्टाइन अपने जीवन में संतुलन बिठाने की तमाम उथल-पुथल के बीच भी एक शांतिपूर्ण विश्व की कामना करते हैं।
वैज्ञानिक शब्दजाल से परे इस पुस्तक में आइंस्टाइन ने कई पत्रों, लेखों तथा साक्षात्कारों के माध्यम से यहूदी समाज में व्याप्त शिक्षा, नैतिकता, राजनीति, विज्ञान, धर्म आदि महत्त्वपूर्ण विषयों पर अपनी अंतर्दृष्टि प्रकट की, जिससे वे असंख्य पाठकों में लोकप्रिय बन गए।
